Cancellation of room
Like every other person, by the sounds of it... I got scammed as wellll... Booked a room thru these snakes in the grass over the phone to book a hotel room in canada. Cancelled within 30 min... Received a cancellation #, really so what... The company said we did n't receive a booking and still charged my credit card... Welcome to the usa eh!
Freaking shisters... Kiss that money good bye.
And this piece of work company is still in business, wake up everyone... Get the news networks to start slamming these idiots over the air... Someone call up david letterman...
Huge scam
This booking agency is a huge scam. I booked a room in Cancun, Mexico thinking I was getting an amazing deal through getaroom.com. When I called the hotel to review my reservation they had no reservation and advised I call expedia who told me to call getaroom back. I was on the phone with a terribly horrible women who did not help me in anyway and told me I...

Horrible experience! Getaroom is a scam and I just wonder how come they are still in business? wish I had read reviews before booking with them. We were going to Hearst Castle and I booked a room through their website. When we got there, receptionist told us that they have no vacancies, nothing in their records shows that a room was booked on my name and that they NEVER heard about this company, nor EVER any room was given/booked by getaroom.com. We wasted over an hour while a hotel manager was trying to help us... I contacted getaroom yesterday, was offered NO APOLOGIES, spoke with someone named Victor who told me that he can't reach anyone in a hotel (a lie! anytime I call - the hotel's receptionist answers right away). This Victor promised to call me back same day after he talks to a hotel's receptionist. He never did! Now I wasted another half hour on the phone to find out that: after they will confirm with a hotel, it will take another 7-10 days to take the charge off my credit card. Asked their supervisor to contact me, will see how long it will take..This is the worst experience with booking I ever had.
Sucks!!
Granted this company does advertise VERY cheap room rates, however u get what u pay for. Just like there room rates, there customer service is cheap! They treat you like an animal, steal all of your money, tell you there is nothing they can do about it, and then hang up in your face. Half of there employees are felons! None of them can speak English correctly. None of the so called departments are ever open and there is never anyone there to help u. This is a so called legit buissness but I don't see how. They need to shut this buissness down IMMEDITLEY.

Totally nailed it. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE! The reservation is 100% non changeable and nonrefundable. Nothing they can do about it. They will tell you that you can lose all of your purchase price AND pay them a 25$ "fee" for canceling the reservation, then pay for a whole new reservation if you need to change. Their terms state that you can pay a 25$ fee for cancellation or change, but their policy is no change on any reservation. Huh? When you question them about this, they will get very angry with you, argue with you and tell you the supervisors are busy with other customers (you are just some sucker who handed over 160$ to them so technically you're not a customer I guess...). Their English is very difficult to understand. My suggestion is to hang in there! IF, and that's a big if, you can get to a supervisor and drop words like "fraud" and "deceptive practices" you may get a resolution. I wish you luck! You're going to need it with these people.
Don't honour their contracts
Total scam of a company! Do not use this company EVER!
Booked the Pearl Hotel in NYC
back in Oct 2013 for a 7 night stay during Jan 2014.
They offered what I thought to be
a fantastic rate for that hotel.
A few days before my visit, I
called the hotel direct to check that my booking was confirmed.
I was not booked in and the hotel
had no knowledge of my booking!
Called Hotel-Rates.com customer
service number ( same company as getaroom.com ) only to be given a total run
around!
Despite having an email
confirming my booking with a booking reference number, they tried to convince
me that I had booked a different hotel!
It took me several calls ( from
the UK ) before they eventually confirmed that they had made an error and
booked the wrong hotel.
I can accept that people make errors,
but the service I got after that was simply unacceptable.
As I was not due to travel for
several days, I simply asked them to honour the booking and correct their
error.
They refused point blank to do
this, saying that the Pearl Hotel could not be booked for the price I had been
charged when I initially made the booking?
When I pointed out that it was their
web site had offered that price and ( in my opinion ) their confirmation email
was a binding contract they simply blanked me completely.
I was forced to cancel my booking
and rebook the Pearl Hotel using Expedia.
This new booking cost me an extra
$573.
I was eventually refunded my
initial charge of $1318, but as I live in the UK, I lost out to the sum of £93
GBP due to differing currency exchange rates.
I approached the company again,
asking for compensation and after several emails they agreed to repay me the
$20.99 booking fee they charge, plus a $100 "gesture" payment.
However this money has never been
refunded and the company has stopped responding to my emails! I now realise
that I am never going to see any further payment.
As I live in the UK, it is virtually
impossible to sue a US company, so will have to give up on this really bad
experience.
Had I lived in the USA, then I
would definitely have sought legal advice in order to recover all my financial
losses.
Keep away! You have been warned.
Unauthorized charges
Getaroom.com tried to charge me 3 times for a room that I did not get. I found it out when I checked my online statements the following day. It happened when i tried to book a room in Days Inn las vegas. I started with kayak, without realizing that getaroom.com is actually the site that's taking my reservation. I made 3 attempts in booking simply because I received an error message and to try again everytime I click submit.
Getaroom.com made unauthorized charges to my credit cards. I contacted them to resolve the issue, but until now I am still waiting for the rest of my money. My bank still has a hold on my funds on the 2 pending entries that have not been reversed yet. So now I have to file a fraudulent complaints to my bank, have my credit card cancelled and have to deal with all this headache. By the way, don't expect a symphatic person from getaroom.com because they are plain rude, will tell you to talk to your bank because they can't help you. i have to force them to resolve this issues because i did not authorize them to charge my credit card. so everyone, BEWARE!
They have shady business practices
I set up a vacation through kayak.com, but the purchase went originally through getaroom.com. I realized immediately I booked the condo a week later than needed, so I called up to change the date within 10 minutes of booking. Getaroom.com was going to charge me a cancellation fee for changing the date, so I then decided to completely cancel the booking since I would get charged 1 nights fee regardless. I cancelled and got a confirmation of the cancellation with in 5 minutes of the cancellation. A few days later I received a refund in my banking account for the purchase minus the 1 night fee. The problem occurred when getaroom.com ended up refunding me twice. A few weeks later getaroom.com called me up telling me to call them back since they had accidentally refunded me twice so that they could get that money back, but left a voicemail since I was at work. When I had the chance to call them back, I reached a representative, filled them in on the situation and they told me I owed nothing on the account. I had her leave notes on the account that I called in and to put a 'no contact order' on the account so that they would stop harassing me on this issue. Then a few weeks after that I received an email stating I was going to be sent to collections for this charge. I was baffled. I called up getaroom.com and got another representative. They told me they didn't care what the first representative had said, they wouldn't honor what the first representative had done, weren't going to pull a call to verify my calling in, had no record of my calling in, didn't know what dollar amount I owed them. I asked them to get me to someone that did know what I owed them and they said they had no record of what I owed. I spoke with a supervisor during this entire part of the conversation, she told me I was wrong, could not give me a dollar amount to what I owed, told me she couldn't pull the recorded call, and then hung up on me when I continued to ask her questions she didn't have answers for. I was told that someone would call me on monday since it was friday with a dollar amount calculated for me to pay. No one ended up calling me on monday. At this point I was so ticked off, I had my wife call in and deal with the representatives and was told we didn't owe any money. Since she was aware of how sloppy their business model is, she asked to speak to a supervisor immediately. This supervisor could not give her a dollar amount as to what was owed, but said she would call her back. When this supervisor called her back a few days later, she told her the dollar amount and my wife paid the charge through our bank account and asked for a receipt to indicate the charge was paid via email and confirmed the email. No email was ever received for the charge on the credit card from our bank but we could see the transaction went through. The next day, my wife called in and asked for that same supervisor again and was told she was gone for the day so she had a representative take down her email and request a receipt for the charge to the credit card. No receipt was and still has ever been received. Getaroom.com is by far the worst customer service we have ever ever ever received. They have shady business practices. The customer service is terrible, the supervision is even worse, and they're business practices are unethical.
They charged my card... Twice
Tried to reserve a room in NY, and when I clicked "Book Room" an error popped up saying the rate was no longer available. Thinking..."wtf?" I tried it again. Same error.
Now here's the really bad news... They charged my card... twice! Maybe the clicking a second time wasn't the best idea, I'll admit that, but why the hell was I charged in the first place if the room/rate wasn't available?!? I called getaroom, and the lady told me these were "pending holds" that will fall off in 72 hours. I certainly hope so... all these 1-star reviews are making me VERY nervous though. I hate shady businesses.
Beware, fellow travelers
Getaroom.com practices false advertising and fraudulent room rates!
On their site, they quoted a package rate at a hotel that included 2 nts' stay free at $202.14/nt. When I received the confirmation, the deductions had not been made. I called them immediately to tell them and the reservationist told me that the price shown per night was just an "average per nite". With the deductions, the cost was $283/nt x 5 nts - which equalled the cost of 7 nts @ $202.14/nt! Where was the savings in that?
Neither the guy I spoke with nor his manager would budge on the cost, telling me I had confirmed it and there was nothing more I could do. Furthermore, the manager said that I should have reviewed the avg night cost before confirming. No such thing was shown on their site, or it would have raised a red flag if I had seen it.
In any case, I promptly cancelled the entire booking. I guess getaroom.com would prefer to lose $1400 over $400 they should have discounted me because of their false advertising.
Beware, fellow travelers! Stay far away from getaroom.com!
Absolutely awful customer service
Absolutely awful customer service. Tried to book a room and when I hit enter, it said System error, please call or try your reservation again later. I waited a bit, tried again. Closed the browser and started from scratch, still got an error message. I didnt want to call, defeats the purpose of booking online! So I gave up and booked thru AAA for a little more. Now I look at my credit card and its been charged 4 times. Now spent an hour on the phone trying to get this worked out. Customer service rep was rude, after explaining the situation he asked what the reservation number was?- again repeated it NEVER went thru. He then argued with me that I must have hit enter multiple times- I said yes I did, the error message said try again!

This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced before. I specifically called looking for a rm with a jacuzzi thinking I was calling the hotel directly. The rep sd he found me a rm for 114 with a jacuzzi so I booked it and pd for it over the ph. I check in a few hrs later to find out I didn't get that rm. There is more to this issue.
This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced before. I called looking for a rm with a jacuzzi thinking I called the hotel but was directed to a third party reservation service. The representative told me he found me a rm with a jacuzzi for 114 so I booked and pd for it over the phone. I check in to the hotel a few hrs later to find out I didn't get that rm. I never received a confirmation email like I was told due to it being entered incorrectly. I called immediately while waiting at the hotel and was told I will not receive a refund becuz I took the rm they gave me. They argued with me and sd they cannot do anything but listen to the recorded conversation of me booking the room. The beginning statement says all calls are recorded for quality purposes. I specifically stated twice in my conversation that I wanted a rm with a jacuzzi and verified at the end of the conversation that is what I was getting. They refused to fix this issue and told me I had to pay for a rm I never wanted in the first place.
I had the same thing happen the first week of October. Kept getting an error message, finally tried a different credit card, and gave up and booked on another site. Never got any confirmation email for any rooms either. Then when I looked at my credit card statement a few weeks later, I had been charged 5 times. I contacted customer service and all they attempted to do was to get a refund from the hotel even though it was the fault of getarooms website. I ended up contacting both VISA and AMEX and disputed the charges and they were refunded.
I would recommend being very wary about using this company to book a room
My booking in Russia seemed to go well -I was able to reserve at the hotel I had researched and wanted at a great price. Luckily, I double checked with the hotel before going - because the hotel reservation I had paid for in full was actually NOT the one that getaroom.com had confirmed - they told me they had a computer glitch and so they had booked me at a DIFFERENT HOTEL. One that I would not have picked, as it was not as nice and not in as good a location. And if I had not checked, I would have arrived at the hotel I thought I had booked with my booking confirmation in hand, and they would have turned me away. The saga goes on and on after this, but the bottom line is that I would recommend being very wary about using this company to book a room.
They were a disaster
They were a disaster. We booked a room in Taos NM, but when we got to the hotel, we had no reservation and they told us the reservation number we had wasn't even one of their numbers. And they were sold out! When we got back, we found out that somehow our reservation was at another hotel in the same chain, but that couldn't have been our doing because getaroom.com gave us the address. We wouldn't have known any other place to go. When we tried to get a refund, we were told it was "company policy" at getaroom.com for us to have to do the leg work, to call the hotel and to get them to send a letter saying they wouldn't charge getaroom.com for the reservation. The hotel people thought this was nutty, but did it for us. When we sent the letter to getaroom.com, they didn't like it and wanted it worded differently. That same day, we got a call, six weeks after our original stay, saying a refund was being processed to our credit card but it might take as long as 60 days to show up. We're waiting to see what happens.
WARNING! Do not use this site under any circumstance if booking outside of USA. The price they quote is a scam and exchange rates are a lie. You will be charged in US dollars and face a hefty fee from your bank for paying in a foreign currency as well as the exchange rate being completely different to the one you are quoted. The customer service is rude and unhelpful. Avoid at all cost (literally)!
Don't fall for their scam
This is a scam. There will be NO rebate. I have called 7 times and spoke to 7 people and after 3 months all they say is "we see you are owed a rebate and we have escalated it". Imagine hearing that line 7 times. I have given up on this $25 rebate. Don't fall for their scam. I found there coupon in entertainment 2012 book. I will let them know not to allow getaroom in there next years book.
I have had an absolutely horrible experience with getaroom.com
I have had an absolutely horrible experience with getaroom.com and would recommend this site to no one.. What ever you do stay away! When we arrived at the hotel they were full and said that they had contacted getaroom.com and that we would be fully refunded.. After countless phone calls I have yet to receive the refund and now its been two whole months! They said that it takes up to one month to be refunded! This company is just aweful and if you're smart you will book your hotel from any other website! Just wanted to warn people about this fraudulent company..
Overcharged $228
a website error generated 2 bookings; contacted getaroom.com repeatedly for resolution with countless personnel plopping me back into the call que because they did not kinow what to do w/ the call - or because they could not make commission of a new booking? Finally 1 of the agents said the hotel reported that I had used both rooms, but the hotel manager said no one from getaroom.com had ever called during the 6 wks I been trying to get it cleared up. It was an overt LIE. I submitted all the dates & names of staff to my bank to dispute the charges. Getaroom.com appears to be a virtual entity using call center staff just to book for revenue. They do not appear to have in place a system for resolving disputes - I even tried to get help via Internet. I will never use this service again.
What kind of a company has such poor customer service
Firstly, getaroom.com is the worst example of customer support that exists in this industry.
They had an advertised rate for the historic cotton exchange in New orleans for 139 a night. When I booked that hotel then sent me a confirmation then called be back two days later saying that they could not honor that reservation and would book me another room with a 100 dollar credit.
Sure they booked me another room but the credit never came, on top of that when I called their customer service they could not even tell that they had booked this room for me and promised me a 100 dollar credit
What kind of a company has such poor customer service? The customer service rep who could barely speak english did not make any effort to keep a customer.
NEVER BOOK FROM THIS SITE! Big SCAM!
Misleading advertising
I booked what getaroom.com (getaroom) describes as an ocean view room at the Gansevoort Miami Beach. The room has ocean glimpses, at best, but in all probability what are more accurately described as views of the building next door, or 'partial ocean view' rooms - which is what the hotel's website calls them.
On checking in and finding out my room did not have the view getaroom's website described when I booked, I spoke with both reception and getaroom.com and were told nothing could be done (some suggestions they 'may be able to move me to a better room next week' were made - no guarantees). I prepaid the accommodation charge, so am being held over a barrel to accept what I've received, which is not what was provided, or forego the money I have prepaid and go somewhere else. Not all the features guaranteed on getaroom's website are in my room (e.g. a coffee maker). I was told by getaroom that I should follow this up with the hotel direct.
Further, Gansevoort has an advertised offer of a complimentary upgrade subject to availability. On checking in they said as they have 'limited inventory' left, that I could indeed have the room up rage, but would have to pay an extra $100 per night to get what they had said, one day prior, would be a complimentary upgrade if rooms were available.

I would never use this company. I received a voicemail stating an IT glitch with my booking and that the system had booked a different hotel. The options they gave me were to either keep the booking with the different hotel or cancel the whole booking. Several pointless calls to Customer Service of which all would simply respond with the same canned response. Even though they totally accepted the issue was with there IT system, if I wanted my original hotel I would have to book again which just happened to be of a higher cost. They could not honour my initial booking as it was not on there "inventory" - ?
I had booked this room nearly two months prior to the trip and they informed me of the so called IT glitch a week before my trip. I had the an email confirmation of my booking - so no IT glitch in my view. In my opinion this is a total scam and I would not recommend using this company. There customer service was simply dismal and rude. There was no one was willing to help and after several attempts to speak to a supervisor where they put me on silent hold and no one would speak to me again - simply awful.
I would not use this company, I personally believe they are a scam. Use someone else!
Don't do business with this company
I booked and prepaid for a room through this site and received both a receipt and confirmation email. When I arrived at the hotel they had no record of my reservation. They called the company and were disconnected (after many transfers) four times! The website had booked me at another hotel and tried to play it off as my error even though I had a print out of my confirmation with me! They were rude, no even remotely helpful and told me to just pay for another room at the hotel I wanted to stay at and then send in my emails for review. They wouldn't give their last names and no supervisors were available to come to the phone. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Getaroom.com is horrible
As I stood at the registration desk and told that my paid, confirmed, room was not available and that getaroom.com never confirmed the room, I was apoplectic. I wrote management at getaroom the following email - they are terrible: Your service is horrible. How can it be that I make a reservation with you, get a confirming email, and then show up at the...

I made a reservation thru Getaroom.com and they clear me told me that parking in the South Beach Red hotel would be $19.00 extra per day (I agreed) when I arrived the hotel advise that they, at one time had parking arrangements with a nearby lot but they have not had it for a while, the only option was offstreet parking which was only available about 8 blocks away and meters had to be fed regularly. The front desk was very apologetic and offered to refund my money but when they started to process it thet discoverd that it was a Getaroom.com reservation and the refund would have to be handled by them. We called Getaroom and they quickly informed me that they only book a place to sleep and they did not get involved in the amenities part and therefore there would be no refund. IN MY CIRCLE OF FRIENDS WE CALL THIS FRAUD, We had to book at another hotel and we hope to fight this out with our credit card co. They were about $10 a day less than others but the deceit made a a NOT WORTH IT RATING I recommend you stay away from loopholes when booking your vacation stay.
