Hello, I am writing about a negative experience that I had at GIant today in Edgewater. I buy groceries at that location every two weeks. I waited in line for 30 minutes behind one customer while the cashier tried to figure out what code to use to ring up her 50 boxes of donuts. The manager came over, and they talked about it for a while. I had a large piece of salmon that was going bad in the meantime. However, I was patiently waiting my turn. I watched as the cashier opened up a line next to me, and they invited the next person into the line. I couldn't go because my food was on the conveyor belt already. Then new cashier told the girl who was going to wait on me to call if she gets backed up. The cashier told her that she was fine. That made me more irritated because the customers waiting in line didn't seem to matter to her unlike her colleague. This the same cashier that I have every two weeks, so she knows that I'm a regular customer. I have never complained about her attitude before, but she never seems very nice. Half the time, she doesn't even greet me when I walk up. That seems rude, but I always greet her. She finally gets to me today, and she again doesn't greet me. She offers no apology for taking so long with the previous customer. I would have been happy with a hello of some sort. What does she say to me! She says do you have bags? I couldn't believe that she had the nerve to ask me that after I waited a half an hour in line for her to figure out a code to ring someone up. Then the manager could tell that I was getting upset, so she came over to ask if everything was okay. I was like it's fine, but I'm not coming back here again. I explained to her what happened, and I told her that I was a regular customer. I've been coming there for years, and I think that the manager recognized me. I never complain about anything, but I couldn't believe how rude the cashier has been to be in general and especially this day. My salmon was going bad, and no one said anything to me. I hello would have been nice or I'm sorry that you had to wait. At other stores, they do that, and I appreciate it. Apparently, Giant doesn't need my business. I realized today that my mom spends good anywhere. I could go to Safeway, Lidl's, Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Sam's Club or Graul's. I'm not forced to go to Giant in Edgewater. I also had a horrible experience with the pharmacy recently. I called for hours trying to get through to see if my prescription was ready. I even had to call the main store because no one ever answered in the pharmacy, and they still couldn't get anyone on the line. This is not good customer service, and it's unacceptable. People should be treated with decency and respect. I don't want people to kiss my butt, but they should be appropriate. I always was when I worked in customer service. Otherwise, they shouldn't be working with the public. These issues should be addressed before you lose more customers due to the overall apathy and neglectful behavior of some of your employees. Sincerely, Dawn Cutler
Desired outcome: Customer service training for current apathetic employees
