service was refused
On March 20 2018 I was refused an Oil change. I want to know your company's policy on changing the oil on an old car(25y/o) with a known oil leak. I went for an oil change on my 1993 Grand Am (181, 211miles). NTB on 2939 SW Military Dr., San Antonio TX, Phone [protected], Serviceman Gary Martinez.
I had a bottle of Lucas oil product ("engine oil stop leak" product) in my front car seat (every oil change I have this product added). When Mr. Martinez went to check my mileage information, he stated if I had a "bad" oil leak, they would NOT be able to change the oil . I stated it's an old car and that I knew of the "slow" longstanding oil leak, but that I was just trying to prolong the driving life of the engine by adding this Lucas product(I have been adding it for the past 5yrs). I told him it was not a "bad" leak and the car has been working fine with this product. No tail smoking, no rattling noise, no knocking to engine. I explained my car has a small leak from somewhere but not a constant dripping to where I have to constantly be adding oil. My car was lifted and he showed me the under surface of the car where he pointed out the area where you could see signs of oil residue on the undersurface including the oil pan surface. We stood there and I pointed out there was no flowing drip coming from the area but that it was a "slow" longstanding leak like I had mentioned to him. We stood there for awhile and no dripping was happening. I asked if the company's policy was not to change the oil on any car that leaked oil. The answer was - It depends on how "badly" the oil is leaking. Obviously we had a difference of opinion as to "what is considered a bad oil leak". I told him I could sign a release of any liability - responsibility, I would not hold any one responsible for any car trouble post the oil change. He said that wouldn't matter and NO oil change would be done. So what is considered a "bad" oil leak on a 25 y/o car ? In my opinion, I think it wouldn't be uncommon for a 1993 car to have a slow leak with signs of oil residue on it's undersurface. I think when he first saw the Lucas additive, he had already decided NOT to do the oil change no matter what the leak looked like. I left thinking he was very rigid in his thinking without being somewhat reasonable after seeing there was no dripping leak to my vehicle. Wondering what is your policy definition of a "Bad Leak"? FYI: If left to Mr. Martinez to decide, he will probably be turning away customers for oil changes with his rigid unreasonable thinking. Not a good impression to make on a 1st time customer. Resolution: Look into this matter and find out if it could have been handled with a better outcome( I had made an appointment for the service and was very unhappy with the wasted time spent at your place). Also consider a change to your company policy to service a customer who is willing to sign a release for any liability to you company for the service they are requesting. In my case a simple oil change which was done at another automotive service company without any problem or hassle. My information was entered into your NTB system by your employee ( Mr. Gary Martinez) if needed to contact me.
service
New customer, bought 4 tires and an alignment. 509.00. Started driving home after I picked up my car and the steering wheel was not aligned! Took the car right back but they didn't have time to fix it. Made an 8:00am next day appointment. My car sat in the parking lot until 8 :45am! The problem should of been fixed asap yesterday! I mean really why was the steering wheel alignment my done properly the first time? I have to go in late for work today! Not good! I will be going back to pep boys from now on!
bad service and management
I came here for a new set of tires in October, this is the third time I've had to return to fix whatever is wrong
I have a 10:30 appointment and here at 11:30 I still sit in the parking lot
This is the rudest bunch of people I've had to deal with
Almost a $1.000 on tired and this front end shakes more than my sister's bed on a Friday night
I feel like I'm using jackhammer when I'm on the freeway
What's the problem why can't these do called professional get a front end alignment right
And what are you going to do for all my trouble and rudess
Never again will I return here
I'm a waitress for 27 year's
You best believe I'm letting everyone know about this place
Something needs to be done
tires
My name is Eddie Toombs Jr and today Febuary 22nd 2018 I went into your store located in Oak Lawn IL. I had a 10:30 appointment for a tire rotation & balance. I was a little early and I was checked in 10:17 Am. I was told they were a little behind schedule and my service could take up to 1 hour maybe a lil longer. I patiently waited and I didn't recieve my vehicle until 12:30. I feel that this service should never have taken this long. The staff is very under staffed and unprofessional.
carpet not replaced when battery was changed
Name: Delonius Williams; customer# [protected]
On January 8, 2018, my husband took my 2011, BMW, 328I to have the batter replaced. The battery is located in the trunk of the car. When the battery was replaced and all pieces where to be put back in place, the right carpet piece was not replaced. I did not discover this immediately because I did not go into the trunk right away. We went back to see if it was possibly still there, but it was not. I have no complaints with the job or customer service there. I would simply like to have the carpet in my trunk either replaced or compensated for a replacement. Please see attached photos.
Thank you!
complaint
02/04/2018 I went to the UNION CITY GA location to get 2 tires, at first front desk agent Brandon was helpful at first, gave me wait time also advised me of my second tire that needed to be replaced. After waiting my expecting time 1 hour 30 minutes and noticing other client come and go that came in way after me and that was flirting I decided to ask what's going on, I was rudely told I can come back another day or I schedule an appointment ride around on a bad tire till then cause I was replacing 2 tires I have an addition 1 hour wait. So it took me 3 hours for 2 tires and his new female friend 1 hour cause she only needed 1 tire, unfair treatment ! ALL guest should be handle first come first serve unless it's an appointment.
lack of service tech's
On January 31, 2018 I went to ntb in Whitehall Pa. There were only 2 techs working. My first tire came off at 1157am. I didn't leave until 215pm. This was because every time the phone rang or another customer came in, the tech working on my truck had to go take care of the phone or customer. This is awful. I paid a lot of money to stand there and waste my day. The 2 guys working were super nice and I think feared I was getting mad. I was but not at them. Four tires and an alignment should have been 1.5hrs tops! Never again. I dont have that kind of time to waste. Corporate needs to get out to their stores and see how these guys have to work!
ntb corperation
Why would anyone want to take their car to a NTB. My son started a job with NTB just before Christmas. He had a limited amount of tools so he financed tools through a vendor who services garages. Shortly into his employment he noticed that several coworkers did not get along, as in many jobs. One worker planted marijuana in another tool box because he did not work on a car that he wrote up for work needed months ago. My son reported this to NYB HR department. When my son returned to work his new tools were stolen. There was only two Co workers working during the period in which the tools were stolen
A search for the tools resulted in the Service Mgr discovering the tools above the ceiling tiles in the break room. The Mr chose to leaving them in the ceiling and reported to my son that the tools were found. When my son and the Mr went for them the tools were gone AGAIN. My son had no tools to do his job. NTB answer to this was to BUY MORE. My son complained to Cooperate and has been getting stonewalled. Last week the H R Manager sent him an email stating they would pay for the tools if he signed a blanket release. Not a dime for his lost wages, harassment, and the emotional strain of supporting his two girls. I think it is time to take legal action. The HR Manager stated You can't prove the tools were really stolen even though the Monroville PA police investigation states they were.
tire repair
I had a slow leak in a tire I purchased years ago. I went in & told him my issue. He came out & looked & instantly said my tire was dry rotted. I need new tires. I went to a tire repair company & the problem was my rim had corrosion & needed resealing! I paid $30 for that simple solution whereas NTB never took the time to look! Your coming is thee greediest! I will make sure this is known on social media & BBB! It's ridiculous that if I was treated that way, imagine how many others are taken advantage of! I will never, ever support your business & will make sure no one else will either!
oil change/tire rotation/alignment
I had my car at NTB for an oil change, tire rotation and wheel alignment. The next day, I attempted to wash my windshield with the wiper fluid. There was no fluid in the reservoir. I stopped, checked it...empty. I filled it with an entire gallon bottle. I called the NTB store, they said it must have a leak. This was weeks ago, no leak so far. I am positive the fluid level was not checked or refilled by NTB. Yesterday I needed to put air in my tires due to light pressure coming on. The hubcap was placed back on incorrectly by NTB and the valve stem was pushed down and bent now. I called today to speak with the general manager and was told by the service manager that the manager has been unavailable for 3 days. The service manager offered to have me bring the car back and fix any problems, but I do not want to take my car back to them. I have used NTB for more than 6 years and have had no problems with the other locations.
unexplained fees
Yesterday, we had to get new tires for my daughter's car on short notice. We went onto the NTB website where is very helpfully provided the opportunity to look for the tires we needed and schedule an appointment. The estimated cost from the website was about $225. Dollars.
When we arrived, the gentleman told us the cost would be over $440. I was surprised, and frustrated. He explained it would require an alignment, along with the tires. When I got home, I called them to inquire why it was so expensive. The service guy indicated that we needed other services as well, such as a new battery ($120+) and the brakes needed to be cleaned. Total cost was $675. Dollars by the time we got out of there.
When we went to pick up the car, I noticed additional fees on the bill detail, such as ‘extra care' or something like that. It was $26. For covering the steering wheel. We didn't ask for this extra service, but got to pay for it anyway. In retrospect, two things are certain — one, I'm sure there were other ‘extra' items they just tacked on, and two, I will never go back to NTB.
highly incompetent "mechanics".
My fiancé took his car to NTB located at 9520 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC on 1/6/2018 to have his two rear tires balanced. Mind you, my fiancé has been working on cars since he was a kid with his dad, built several cars himself and has done all the work on his car and his truck since he has owned both, however, he can't balance tires. When he took it in, the manager, Chris, automatically said his tires weren't out of balance, but there was a bad bearing in his rear axle. Really? The guy hadn't even laid an eye on his car, nor had he driven it. After waiting an hour and a half, Chris talks to my fiancé and "confirms" it's a bad bearing and they are going to need to keep the car a little longer to drill it out put a new bearing in and put two new tires on the car. We were cool with that, however, we had to get my car so we could run some errands. This is when it went from BAD TO WORSE! They called at 5 pm Saturday and said they couldn't get the bearing out and that Chris was going to have to bring his own tools in Sunday to remove it, that he knew exactly what he needed. Well, Sunday morning came and we got the call that they can't get the bearing out, then we got a call that they broke the axel and then we got another call stating they cracked the left spindle. All of this happened within 30 minutes of each other. They proceeded to tell him that they would call a junk yard to find one whole piece with axel, bearing and spindle Monday to put it on his car. Please note, the issue with the original bearing was that it was old...if it goes bad, the back tires fall off! Why would we want a bad bearing that's been sitting in a junk yard put on his car, we would have kept the one that they couldn't remove! So, we told Chris no, we wanted a new bearing and axel but were okay with a used spindle. Come Monday morning, Chris called and said they found a used spindle for $300...yeah, right! We looked on line and that was three times the price a junk yard was selling a spindle for. Chris also told us Sunday he would "take care of the price" because it wasn't our fault... That did not happen. He took care of us all right, in the bend over type of way. My fiancé told him to just please fix the car, he'd pay for it. We thought it would be finished Monday afternoon, but then got a call that they ordered the wrong part, it didn't fit his car! On Tuesday 1/9/18, we got a call stating it was all fixed to come get it. Originally, it was supposed to cost $930 for the new bearing and two new tires. It was close to $1350 when we picked it up. When my fiancé drove it home, he noticed that now the breaks were making funny noises and it wasn't running right. He wasn't able to drive the car to work today. When he got home today from work he looked at it and now there is a busted axel/spindle on the passenger side and there is grease everywhere. When he called the NTB on Independence, there miraculously was not a manager on duty? That he has to call back tomorrow (1/11/18), but they will "fix" the issue. Will they, will they fix the issue at no cost to us? Will they just make the issue worse and continue to bleed money from us? Most likely all three will occur. Well, actually they won't, we will take the car to a reputable mechanic to fix what they have broken and to pay for all of it again.
Heed my warning... Do not, do not, do not take your car to any NTB facilities. Please read the complaints before you go, unlike us, reading them after the fact. They do not have qualified mechanics, so they do more harm than good. They break things in your car so they can charge you more, they diagnose "issues" with your car before they've even looked at it, driven it or put it on a lift. If you have plenty of money and want to get a car back, that chances are you may never be able to drive once they are finished with it, then go ahead and frequent that business.
I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and I'll be reaching out to Action 9 News here in Charlotte so they can do their own investigation!
vehicle inspection
On 12/27/2017 I went to the bel air, MD location to get an inspection i waited 2 hours after scheduling an appointment and being on time watching people come in after me and leave before me to be told I failed my initial inspection I was told the only thing I needed to get done was tighten my battery hold, I needed a new head lamp, and new windshield wiper blades i was told multiple time even though my tints didn't pass Lyft doesn't care about tints on 1/6/2017 I got everything fixed on my vehicle and called and asked could I come get my vehicle re inspection as I live (a hour away )I drove back to the bel air, MD location and once I got there was told that I can't get my vehicle can't get re inspection because the same initial inspector wasn't there even though there was another inspector on site after being completely frustrated I asked when will he be there he said Monday 1/8/2017 At 8am I got there today at 8:20am to be told that inspector was not In at this point I didn't want to hear that the same front desk person remembered me and knew I was mad he then called the inspector to ask can he check off what I got fixed and he send a new paper via for him to give me in which he did after driving a hour back home I'm submitting my inspection form to Lyft saying they are not accepting it because it says failed at the top I called bel air, MD location and said Lyft is not accepting I told them but I was told by you that my tints don't matter for a Lyft inspection the guy then told me well about 15 Lyft drivers told them that it's not an actual fact if I would have known that I needed to remove my tints in order to pass my inspection I would have done so, so that I didn't drive a hour away for the third time just to be told I didn't pass inspection I told the front desk clerk you shouldn't tell customer that they don't have to remove tints for Lyft in order to pass inspection unless it came from Lyft the company not rumors they are hearing from other drivers I am so upset with this company completely unprofessional I don't see how and employee would tell me one thing going off a rumor and not an actual fact from Lyft the company it's self this is beyond ridiculous and not good customer service I would like to speak to someone about this issue as this company has completely wasted my time [protected]
tire installation
The worst service I have ever had was at: NTB 7361 Mentor Ave, Mentor, OH 44060.
It all started with a Christmas gift of 4 new tires100% prepaid for at NTB. I went to NTB At 9:00 am the day after Christmas which was a Tuesday, I gave all my paperwork to the sales associate, as he looked it over I asked him if I could get them done today, he said let me check and see if we have the tires in stock, he said good news and bad news we have them in stock, but we are so slammed and we can't do them today, I said how about tomorrow, the answer was we are slammed then also, I said what about Friday at 4:00 pm. As he enters the appointment in the computer he says he is going to take the tires out of inventory so that they don't get sold to someone else. He asked me if I would like to take them with me, as I am telling him I'm not putting tires on my leather seats another customer comes in the door and is helped by a different sales associate the new customer asked if he could get 4 new tires on his truck today, sales associate we are slammed but we should be able to get it done.
Recap:
1. I can't get tires on Tuesday "They are slammed"
2. I can't get tires on Wednesday "They are slammed"
3. The customer that comes in after me can get tires on Tuesday
4. Now I have an appointment for Friday at 4:00 pm. and the tires are removed from stock (so they are safe)
NOW we get to Friday at 3:45 pm I walk in and give all my paperwork to the sales associate, as he looked it over, he said we are so slammed today, I said I have an appointment for 4:00 pm. The appointment was entered into the computer as under Christmas gift giver name, I asked the sales associate to make sure that my name is on the paperwork for the tire warranty; he changed the name on the appointment. Now he searched the computer for the tires, He says they don't have the tires in stock, I told him that when I made the appointment on Tuesday the sales associate took them out of inventory for my appointment, fast forward they physically have been looking for the tires in inventory for .5 hr.
The tires removed from stock (so they are safe) ARE GONE.
The sales associate tells me they are in stock at another location, and the can pick them up and install them on Saturday, and if I don't hear from them by 10:00 am I should call (to make sure they have the tires)
NOW we get to Saturday I get to NTB at 9:30 am, and the sales associate looks at me and says can I help you (and I think to myself PROBABLY NOT!) little did I know.
The sales associate that was helping me on Friday says "he is the one that is getting tires from the other location"
The sales associate that is helping me on Saturday says the guy that picks up supplies from other locations does not come in until 10:00 am then he will go get them, also we are so slammed won't get to them until the afternoon
Let's recap again:
1. I can't get tires on Tuesday "They are slammed"
2. I can't get tires on Wednesday "They are slammed"
3. The customer that comes in after me can get tires on Tuesday
4. I can't get tires on Friday "They LOST my tires"
5. They said for me to call at 10:00 am to make sure they have the tires from the other location. They knew that they would not have the tires especially since the guy that picks up supplies from other locations does not come in until 10:00 am (another stall tactic)
Now I get to sit in the waiting room, I don't think so, time for brunch, and I'm not here staring at the walls for the next few hours so I give the sales associate my cell phone number and told him to call when the car is done, now I go to the mall
Fast forward
It is now 4:00 pm. NO Phone call
Back to NTB, and when I get there I see my car in the service bay. When I walk in the door, the sales associate says that my car is almost done it just needs an alignment, should be about 20 minutes. Let finish the paperwork, NOW we go back to the original prepaid paperwork from the beginning of this ordeal, it has the special number on it that will link the prepayment with the service done.
Guess what, here we go again
NOW the computer system is not excepting the special number
Fast forward
It is now 5:00 pm. and the finally works
Let's recap again:
1. I can't get tires on Tuesday "They are slammed"
2. I can't get tires on Wednesday "They are slammed"
3. The customer that comes in after me can get tires on Tuesday
4. I can't get tires on Friday "They LOST my tires"
5. I was to call at 10:00 am to make sure they have the tires from the other location. They knew that they would not have the tires especially since the guy that picks up supplies from other locations does not come in until 10:00 am (another stall tactic)
6. The computer system is not excepting the special number
7. 104 hours to get 4 tires installed.
In conclusion: if you need 4 tires and have a week waste - NTB Mentor can help and if they have your money you pushed to the end of the line.
PS. I have to get the tires rotated every 6000 miles - that will probably take 3 days.
oil change
Ntb has a history of changing my oil and selling me numerous sets of tires, changed my oil and then came to me saying my oil plug was stripped out and the cost would be over 900$, they refused to take responsibility for stripping out the plug and they are the only one who do all my oil changes, could you please help me in resolving this issue as they want help me.
vehicle safety inspection
I took my daughter's car in for an inspection/emissions on 11/27/17 or 11/28/17. We dropped it off and when we came to pick it up we were told it passed inspection but the mechanic had a family emergency and had to leave before he could do the emissions. We were very understanding of the situation and rescheduled the emissions test for the following week. We got the emissions and today took our paperwork to the license bureau to renew her plates. We were told we did not have the inspection paper and, in fact, it was not even in the system. We immediately went back to NTB and were told there is no record of the inspection and we have to do it all over again. My husband died unexpectedly a few weeks ago and the last thing I need is to go back 3 times for the inspection/emissions. I thought I was going to a mechanic that I could trust and use all of the time. Also, if I ever try to make a Saturday appointment, I am told that "we can make the appointment but we are very busy on Saturdays and man not be able to fit you in." What is the point of making an appointment if they can't fit me in?
new tire installation
I called 1 week ahead to schedule an appointment at NTB on Lafayette Rd. in Seabrooke, NH to install 4 new tires on my Toyota, Venza. The sales representative said the tires weren't in stock but they would order them and scheduled a 1pm appointment for me the following week. I checked in at the desk at 12:30 pm and was told that they were very backed up because someone called in sick. The clerk said it would be at least 3:30 pm maybe closer to 4 before the work was completed. I explained I needed to be in MA for an appointment by 5 and they assured me it would be done and would call me on my cell. I walked across the highway to the shopping area close by to patiently kill the 3 hrs. I hadn't received a callback, so I arrived back at NTB at 3:45 and saw my car hadn't been moved! I approached the desk and the clerk explained that the tires they ordered for my car never arrived! I got very upset that they didn't know or tell me this when I checked in for my appointment or call me earlier. I wasted 4 hrs of my day driving 45 min to get there and waiting for nothing. I got at least 4 emails since my appointment was scheduled reminding me of my appointment but they didn't know they didn't have the tires? Totally Unacceptable! The sales representative just stood there, and offered me no resolution. I requested to speak to the service manager and I suggested they put on whatever other tires they had on site that fit my vehicle. He said he had tires but they were $100 more. I told him I refused to pay a penny more than the cost of the other tires. The Manger acted like HE was doing me a huge favor by giving me the tires for the same price. I said he should be giving them to me for free for all the aggravation. Had they told me they didn't have the tires I could have driven across the street to Town Faire Tire and most likely had new tires in an hour. I wasted 4 hours there. The way I see it at NTB's prominently posted labor rate of $115 per hour they owe me another $345!
being told I needed something that wasn't bad
Purchased 4 cooper tires from your independence store in ohio on 12/3/2017 order # [protected]-zmwi upon installing the tires I was informed that I had a bad outer tire rod end and parts and labor was around 220.00 dollars I declined the service and the car was not alignedand it should of . after the service the next day had car re-inspected by another auto repair shop and was informed that the parts on the car did not need replaced. that wheel alignment should have been done.i do have that invoice I feel that I was to be taken advantage of and would like some type of monetary compensation for the inconvinence your service shop cost me after all the years of me being a loyal customer I felt I at least deserve this I will no longer be a customer at your shops and I will let people know about your practices very disappointed MARK TOMSIK
tire rotation
Dear customer service
Just a suggestion about tire rotation. I have been an NTB customer for several years. In the past I have had my cars service with oil changes tire purchased. The last time I was in the KCK store I was unhappy with the service writer trying to get my tires balanced. So I haven't been back since.
We just bought a different car about 4000 miles ago. I decided to give the store another chance. I had them change the oil with the hi mile oil this time thinking that in the past they rotated the tires. After they were done I notice, after I got home. That the tire had not been rotated. I drove back in too the store and ask why they didn't rotate the tires. I was told that I did not ask to have them rotated. Because now you have to ask to have this done. It's a new policy If he had ask me in the beginning if I wish to have this done but he didn't ask. I wonder if this should be asked in the ticket write up time.

service
Went to have tires rotated and balanced with alignment check. Received a call from NTB that the front left CV boot was leaking and that it needed to be replaced $449.00 .
I told them to wait I wanted to think about it. When I got the car home I jacked up the car to look at the problem. There was grease pouring out of the boot. The car is kept in the garage and no signs of leak. When I call the store they said they didn't do anything. Why do I have grease pouring out of the boot minutes later.
I figured I was wrong about the service. NTB did nothing wrong.
