unethical behaviour and horrible customer service
I had a contract with Altech Netstar in 2013 where Altech didn't deduct for 2months premium. When I queried why the consultant advised me that they didn't have my banking details. I then requested to terminate the contract as I had added my banking details on my contract. However on the 3rd month Altech deducted. fast forward 2017 they have handed me over and I now owe R7000. for a 24 month contract that I requested to terminate. I got in touch with [protected]@netstar.altech.co.za and Mohamed advised me that the company was at fault and I then requested transcripts of all my communication, that was 13/01/2017. how does one take such a matter to the Ombuds?

My previous vehicle insurance company was Oakhurst insurance and its through them that I had a altech netstar sleuth device fitted to my vehicle. I cancelled my
insurance with them in November 2016 and they advised me that someone from
Altech Netstar will call me. Between calls with me and Altech I eventually get
a lady called Monica Advontuur from the retentions department calling me about
the settlement of my outstanding amount. I asked her to give me a final settlment amount as I wont be using the device anymore. She then spoke to her superior and got back to me and said that he agreed on an amount of R1000 to be paid over Dec and Jan 2017. I agreed to this amount and I paid the settlement amount over the 2 months. I am now receiving sms saying i still owe R180.21. Do these ppl
even know the meaning of a "settlement amount". Its the total amount outstanding. When you call them they take forever to answer then they put you hold not even bothering to ask to call you back. Really upset with their unprofessional manner...I will NEVER ever support this company EVER!
unable to register for online app because tracker is "old"
To Whom It May Concern,
I requested assistance in registering for the cellphone app from Altech Netstar as the app would not accept my account number.
When requesting help from the client centre, I was informed "Your tracking unit is basic unit and old in order for to register you will need to upgrade the unit. for upgrade kindly contact retentions department ".
1. I pay my contract monthly - it is unacceptable that only some trackers can be registered on the app.
2. The message received is appalling. When dealing with consumers/customers, one is as professional as possible and I barely understand what the writer is trying to say.
3. I asked for assistance in registering on the app, yet Mr David Maluleke sent me an account fitment certificate. Therefor not assisting with the requirement.

My device was installed with the First for Women insurance in Jan 2014. I have now decided to cancel my insurance with first for women and Altech Netstar. I called Altech Netstar on the 3rd and 4th of October 2016. First for information regarding my final amount due after cancellation and then to officially cancel the device. I was told that I need to cancel my insurance first then contact Altech again to cancel the device. I did this on the 4th of October. I spoke to a man at the retention dept. He told me that the insurance cancellation was not updated on their system but he would call me when it is updated and discuss payment terms for the R46 that I would owe them. Since then I had not heard from Altech and now I received a bill for R115. I called again and was told that I did not cancel the device and that this is the installment amount. I told the operator (Mongezi Mlotshwa) that I had cancelled on the 4th of Oct. He stated that he will query and then told me that the cancellation has gone through. Now I see that I am owing R135! When I tried to explain that I had officially cancelled in Oct, he was very rude and would not see reason. I asked to speak to a manager. His response was that the manager will say the same thing! He then proceeded to put me on hold for over 20 minutes!
This is ridiculous! The calls are recorded yet they still refuse to accept that I cancelled the account at the beginning of October! The amount quoted to me in October was R46! I will not pay R135. I called the retention department 3 times today and Mongezi answered all three times. He keeps insisting that he does not know who assisted me on the 4th of October but if I keep getting through to him then my only conclusion is that he is the only operator at the retention dept and that he assisted me in October!
We totally agree with you. We are having the same problem with Netstar. We phoned them to cancel our device in December 2016. Our three year contract has already expired and we have not renewed it. They then phoned and said that we must send an email. We have send the email. My husbands computer crashed and we do not have any old emails and now they just don't accept that. It is our problem. I asked them where did we renewed the contract and they said that it is not a contract that must be renewed it can run for ever. Where in your life? When we have taken the system it was clearly stated it is a 3year contract. No they are threaten us with blacklisting. May be we must start to get people together to take them on, because they are stealing money from us. I have done research on them and we are not the only ones that this has happened with. We are also going to the Ombudsman. The customer services also don't care about your problem and they take you on like hell. May be they get a commission with every client that pays up just to get them off your back. Never ever will we again make use of Netstar. C-Track and Car track will may be better to use.
bad service / devices not working
There services is bad, there trackers do not work. I have been trying to solve a problem since 2014 of a device not working but they expect payment and put my name up for bad debt. I spoke to them many times and they do not call back. My car is missing and reported it many time but no success. I called head office and spoke to a supervisor but no success and no feed back after 2 years. My car is still missing and everytime i call them they say they will put it on testing period and call me as soon as they pick up a signal. For 2 years i hear the same thing now. I refuse to Pay. No tracker thats is working, no service, no feedback since 2014!
cellular, billing issues, unauthorised debits from bank account
Altech erroneously debited my bank account for over R8000, 00 and after 1 year they have still not paid it back - it spite of admitting their error and my numerous requested to Shananda Janse van Rensburg, Chris van Zyl and numerous other Altech and Bytes people.
Altech claim to be a technology company but can't fix simple billing issues.

My altech netstar cyber sleuth device never worked since installation March 2015.
The fault was rectify. The wiring was done incorrectly by the technician.
Nelspruit branch which did the installation said they will take it up with their finance department to refund me but 5 weeks later nothing happened.
I tried to contact your finance department but every time they put me through I got cut off.
The contact person in Nelspruit is Sarah and Monique at head office never answer her phone or call back.
I will be happy if you can resolve this matter as soon as possible.

I have had a tracking service device fitted on my daughter's Yaris in 2013. In 2014 she traded in her Yaris and purchased an Hyundai. We advised Altech Netstar accordingly who then transferred the device to the Hyundai. We paid for the transfer cost. In 2015, we purchased a Polo and advised Netstar of the change in vehicle. I also advised them that the contact should no longer be in my name as the vehicle is now in my daughter's name and the current tracking device is to be transferred to my daughter' car. My daughter had written off the vehicle in an accident a month later and we advised Altech accordingly. They have refused to cancel the contact even though we don't have a device or there is no vehicle being tracked. On sale of the contract, I was advised categorically that the device is free and all I pay for is the tracking. I am now paying for no device and no tracking and Netstar will not come to a compromise. I think this is daylight robbery. I call them and hold on for Charne for more than 45 minutes to no avail. They are not prepared to negotiate or even discuss this matter. I find then not customer centric and I hope other customers are aware of what they could be committing themselves to if you sign up with Altech. I will never recommend them to anyone. They are BAD.

So Altech Netstar who has cancelled my contract with them after I gave an instruction to effect cancellation with the attached proof of payment has since then briefed Credit woks to recover three thousand rands from me what is shocking is my contribution was not even R300 per month. This morning I received a statement from Altech Netstar reflecting a zero balance I forwarded the statement to Credit Works as well as the Credit Controller at Altech Netstar but no one has gotten back to me nor have they have corrected their oversight.
Unfortunately I cannot attach the statement of account here as its in pdf form.
Altech Netstar must inform Credit works that I don't owe them, creditworx must refrain from calling or texting me and threatening me with legal action. Finally Altech Netstar must formally apologize to me and restore my good name.
Altech Netstar are not oserving the "TCF" principles. They have no customer orientation and I would not recommend their service to anyone
bank debits on cancelled contract
In September 2015 we gave a notice at Netstar polokwane branch of termination of contract as the car was sold off..but they kept debiting the subscription we went there twice but to no avail..they still continued debiting the money until we instructed the bank to block their debit order now they are threatening us with legal action . Is it fair to pay for something that you don't own?May be we must just cancel all the remaining contracts.

My email to Netstar. I'm sure that in the grand scheme of things I'm not important and just an annoying customer who's email you will just delete. Whilst you may not understand or acknowledge my frustration, because to you, you are right, I'd like to draw your attention to the following in the hope that others may not need to go through this insane ordeal and you as a business can hopefully learn from it. Although given the treatment I've just been given, I very much doubt that. For your credit department this was about collecting amount and their refusal to listen and yelling, their sole purpose was collecting money regardless of how they treat people, but you failed to understand and comprehend what I wanted out of this because you never listened. You didn't even afford me the opportunity to explain so that you can understand that for me this was about accuracy and making sense of really poor record keeping and account management. Incorrect information given to me, demands on payment for invoices I never received, for amounts that I'm trying to understand, I'm trying to get clarity on. I'm certainly no crook holding back your money because I've settled your accounts simply to ensure I'm not forced to deal with you again: 1. Netstar accepts no responsibility for written confirmation of accounts cancelled and no further monies owing. So then why confirm it in writing to customers. It makes no sense. 2. Netstar accepts no responsibility for invoices for payment sent each month for payments due on a cancelled account. (This I figured out after going through the information sent to me, Netstar claims this is stil active). 3. Netstar accepts no responsibility for invoices they should have sent to you but didn't, but will demand payment because you should have been paying this bill you never received and they've placed you in arrears for the amount that you weren't aware of. 4. Netstar accepts no responsibility for incorrect details on the product that they provide to you from 1 conversation to another. 5. Netstar takes no responsibility for their incorrect record keeping. 6. Netstar is also aware their product is written off in terms of asset value after 1 year (as per SARS and acknowledged by Netstar) but has still claimed a shameful amount, which has been paid in order to never deal with Netstar again. 7. It is also noted on the unsigned contract terms and conditions sent to me yesterday that Netstar claims no responsibility for the tracking unit nor if not functional when utilised. 8. During the initial dispute, when I asked why has Netstar not even given a courtesy call or tested the unit, the response what that's MY responsible not Netstar. In fact, I was smirked at on the phone for asking questions trying to understand, insulted with comments such as “I'm concerned that you know nothing” 9. Communication is also no responsibility of Netstar where a 3rd party is involved, as it's the 3rd parties responsibility as I was told, but they provide “service” to you directly. Summary : Netstars' philosophy = the customer is always wrong and Netstar claims no responsibility whatsoever, for product, offering, service, testing, billing etc. The sad reality for Netstar is, a customer would rather pay to NOT deal with you, that is how bad your service is. And even though I've settled and cancelled EVERYTHING. I'm sure Netstar will be claiming something new next month.
I am complaining about product and service delivery
I have a huge complaint against Altech Netstar. There is an illegal unit installed in my vehicle without my consent by someone with whom I have a restraining order against. I have been struggling for months now to have it removed. I want this unit removed urgently and the details of the technician who installed it in order for me to continue with legal action against the person I have the restraining order, Altech Netstar and the technician who I suspect is a friend of the person who had it installed

So today I phoned Altech Netstar to request that my unit be removed and installed into my new vehicle which I'll be getting tomorrow and the cost to do this is a R1600!
But the cancellation fee is R1450? How is the world do you guys do your calculations.
I ask the consultant that I need this done in the next 24 hours as my current vehicle is a trade-in on the new one and collection date is tomorrow - and then he tells me the first available slot is Friday.

1. Ever since I installed my tracker in 2013 it has never worked properly everytime I try to test it they tell me they can't trace it.
2. How can you tell me you can't test the tracker when the car is not moving and also take a minimum of 20 mins to test a tracker? That worries me a lot I'm afraid that I am paying for a tracker but when my car is stolen the chance of it being recovered are very slim.
3. If they can't see the car when you test they even try to advise you what to do next, all they are interested in is getting money from nothing more. I am very dissapointed with the service of this company

Altech netstar has deducted from my bank account and I do not have tracker in my car. They say its for a car I sold over 1 year ago which I cancelled in the same month of selling the car in June 2014 and in that same month the tracker was also cancelled. I bought a new car in 2012 and took the car insurance with Oakhurst which their insurance came with the tracker from Altech Netstar.In 2013 February i travelled to Mpumalanga of which it was the first time i drove there but to my surprise i was never called as tracker Dept do especially if you drive to the place that you don't usually drive to.I phoned them and complain but the lady i was talking to she told me that they will inform me about the where about of the car if the car is stolen and the complain is lodged.I decide to cancel the insurance policy which was doing good for me because of Altech and also cancel that insurance with them the very same day in Aug 2013 but now they have sent me to CreditWorx that i owe the amount of R2599.00.My number [protected].

Attery disconnect violation ych327gp tata indica vist 1.4 ignis at 13h07on 04/06/2014, obviously the date and time changes each time. Also my reg is yth327gp and not ych327gp when I called I was told there is a problem with my battery so I had it checked at my cost to be told there is nothing wrong. I then sent an email requesting assistance I received a mail back from joshua to say that its an error my number has been loaded on anouther cars profile, which is nonsense why everytime I start my car I get a sms and why is all the other details correct except the reg number, since replying to his mail I have heard nothing back from them dispite following up daily by email. I have tried calling them but the calls do not get answered, on the correspondence from joshua there is a number for his direct line and this number does not exist. How can I be paying monthly for a service that is clearly faulty what happens the day my car is stolen.

It all started when we got a call from the call center and they wanted to upgrade the units in both our cars. They did not make mention of additional charges. If they did, we would have not upgraded as there was nothing wrong with our current units and also financially we could not afford it. At the end of the month they deducted an amount of r 800 and some change. When we called the center, they were unable to assist us and they were going to call us back, which never happened. Spoke to jacquline in accounts, spoke to manager ramo maharaj, spoke to chantal, manager of customer service, spoke to the consultants, and it is now almost 2 months and nobody has gotten back to us. They insisted that they mentioned the additional cost, but they cannot find and telephone recordings of the conversation. We even sent e-mails to their service center time and time again requesting for somebody from the cancellation department to contact us, and still nothing has happened.
This is so frustrating . I would like this contract to be cancelled with immediate effect, as we are not willing to do business with a company that cannot assist and sort out my queries. But they continue to take our money.

poor service from a tracker company that doesn't know which city I live in
This company is just infuriating.
All they are interested in is their monthly fee.
I sold my vehicle and wanted to cancel the tracker.
I have tried 3 times to cancel my contract, 2 of them the
salesman promising to call me back and never doing that, and
the last time the phone just went dead after I asked the sales lady to
process the cancellation.
And sure enough at the end of the month R183 was deducted from my
account into their pockets.
This is just unethical.
I have switched to Tracker for my new vehicle because I refuse to deal
with Altech anymore.
The worst part - I even gave these guys a chance.
I waited for them to come and install the new unit knowing that they
are screwing me on the old unit. They didn't pitch for 3 days and kept calling me the next day to say they are coming. And on the 4th day they tell me their was a
problem because they thought I was staying in Durban and sent a Durban
Fitment cnwtre to my house, so the guys could find me. This is a tracking company!
