new mattress has bed bug problem
Purchased new king size bed, with box spring an frame .the bed set I had before the new purchased one I had maybe 6 years no problems. bought new house lived their two years same furniture, same bed set so i wanted to update my bedroom bought this set couple weeks went past my wife started feeling mosquito type bites over her body .then one night laying in bed not asleep I felt a sting like bite on my Legg pulled cover back an their I seen for the first time in my life a bed bug I have had the home treated threw out on place I have seen them is in my bedroom .top it off the exterminator said this is common with furniture purchased at art van furniture.
custom ordered leather pit group
Purchased a custom leather pit group. Since we didn't want brown, we custom ordered another color. This was in August and we were told that we would be able to get it delivered by the end of October. Called in October for a status and was told it was delayed and that we should receive it by the end of November. Called at the end of November and they told us the pieces had been received but they needed to check everything before they delivered, just to make sure it was all correct (huge line of BS!). It is now the week after Christmas and we once again called to find out where our furniture was and now are being told they can't find the pieces and have no clue where they are, when we might receive them, etc! Worst furniture buying experience ever! No we are told we can either wait longer (they can't tell us how long) or get a refund. The furniture was charged to our credit card back in October mind you! Art Van Furniture seems absolutely clueless when it comes to anything they don't have in immediate stock! We have contacted the VP of customer service, but of course now need to wait for a call back once again which is extremely frustrating since they promised call backs through out the process and they never once picked up the phone to call us. What a complete waste of time and money!

Possibly the worst customer service I have ever received from a manger. Chuck H. in Romulus failed to call me back after his team did not follow delivery protocol. We purchased a Kingsdown mattress and have exchanged it once which I didn't want to do I just wanted to return the mattress and not exchange but the sales lady talked me into it so now we have are second mattress that I can't sleep on my arms and legs go to sleep. And the store manager said their was nothing he could do for us. So I'm got a mattress that I can't sleep on, and that we're stuck paying for. What a rip off.
poor quality furniture and bad service
We purchased a special order leather sectional including all available service/protection plans on 11/05/13 in the amount of $3, 215.01. We took delivery 3/14 but the corner section was wrong so it was ordered again, took re-delivery 7/14.
By fall there were several spots peeling, general breakdown of cushions and reclining pieces were becoming loose so we requested replacement of defective pieces and told no way possible. A repair person was sent with a wrench, dye and a hairdryer 11/14. We were told he can TRY and cover the peeling dye but the cushions were not covered because it's wear and tear (less than 6 months) and he is not required to, but he would do us a favor and tighten bolts for us so the pieces will be sturdy again.
Once again the leather is peeling and the cushions are sinking worse so we have requested another option for this JUNK furniture. We are still told there are no options but repair of the leather and offered the above routine again.
Do NOT buy anything from this company!
bait and switch mattress sale
Purchased a mattress at art van (Holland ohio). They took me through a nice sales pitch and process to choose the correct firmness and comfort for me. I paid for the mattress. However the product delivered to my home was not at all what I chose. The mattress was very hard and impossible to sleep on. When I called the store to tell them that I wanted the mattress that I chose at the store I was told that I was out of luck. The art van rep actually told me that that is how all their mattresses are sold and that it would take time for "my body" to get used to the product. When I asked how long it would take to break in the mattress they told me that there is no way to know. This is fraud. I went in the store, went through a process to find the correct comfort level for me and then the deliver something totally different and tell me that I have to get used to the very hard mattress and the best part is, there is no way to get your money back. Seems like the old "bait and switch" scam to me.

poor service/rude sales staff/mgr
Well, it all started with the purchase (layaway) of a mattress set on February 24. We then decided to see if we could find the same mattress at a cheaper price elsewhere; and we did. We went back in on March 2nd to cancel the deal and get our $200. deposit back. Well that was a disaster; They made a huge deal out of it and made us talk to the dept mgr. This person (VERN) turned out to be a royal jerk. He accused my husband of lying and made a scene in the store. We then had to talk to another manager (JIMMY) who was apologetic for Vern. We finally got them to cancel the deal (after we were made to feel like we were doing something illegal). We were told that we would get our $200 check in 5 to 7 business days (remember, this was on March 2nd). Well, that was not true as it is now the 22nd of March and we still don't have our $200. We were told yesterday (21st) that the check was mailed out on the 14th! Then, the clearance manager, said, "well I don't know this Diane person; maybe she cashed it and did not tell you! (I am the wife) That opened another can of worms that made us angry. Therefore, now, they want to put a stop payment on that check and reissue a new one! Now it will probably take another week or two to get our money back! We are all done with ArtVan and we will be going elsewhere in the future for our furniture needs. If they don't change how they treat their customers, they will lose more customers. We were never treated this way when Chris D. was there.

bait and swtich
My husband and I went to Art Van in Taylor to purchase new mattress set. There were several issues we had to deal with but finally made a deal. First of all the mattress we tried with the lift, we really liked and decided to purchase-problem arose that the lift that was on the bed we tried did not come with the mattress set we looked at for the price. If we wanted that lift it would be $300 increase from one salesman and $350 from another. We stayed with the lift that was included for the price, even though it was not the lift the mattress was on-that worked perfectly. Upon purchase they wanted us to put money down even though there were signs posted all over the bedding area 0% for 50 Months PLUS other options. I explained the meaning of plus and that we were putting no money down and using my account there. They set up the mattress set and I layed on the bed-everything worked fine. My husband laid on the bed with me-the lift would not work. I got off the bed the lift worked. We looked at the instructions and it stated on page 7- Weight limit for the queen size bed was 425. Any excessive weight would VOID the warranty. My husband and I could not have decieved the sales people into thinking we were stick people-we were both very visible in the store. when I called to complain they wanted to sell us the bigger base for $370.00. They picked up the mattress set. This is a clear case of them selling a product-only to have you come back and pay more.

get serious people where ever you buy a mattress set you;ll not find an identical one any where ; each store has its own designation number for serta or what have you from different manufactures ; its the same as canada ; that is why they state find another just like ours cheaper we will match the price ; this will never happen as each store has its own specific number for that serta set or others and even though some other store looks the the same mattress the numbers will not match therefore no price match ; almost the same goes for some T V's ; some big out fit can special order certain sets to their own specs and you;ll not find this set anywhere else ;if the set says made for leons or what ever you;ll not see this tv in other stores ; do your diligent homework on your PC and only ask for what you want do not get talked into a cheaper set or equal value most of people in those stores do not know alot about anything you hit them with a technical question they will skirt the issue ; if you find out you know more about their product then they do leave the store go some pace where staff are knowledgeable ; like I said do alot of research on your own then go in ask about any item you are purchasing ; never over buy stick to your guns ; do not lesson to those sales people saying oh its just as good they on majority know dick about what they sell ; talk is cheap ' stop complaining you got ripped off you probably deserved it
damaged furniture
Picked up media console from Traverse cIty drove 1 hour to cottage home and opened box only to find the corner was smashed in. Staff at store put the box upside down in our truck, I feel for a reason so we would not see box was damaged. Called supervisor Sarah, she said she would call back. She never did. I had to call back to Traverse City store again spoke this time with my sales rep. who said she would take care of everything so I would not have to wait at the store closer to my main home when I returned it. I drove back to 3 hours to south east MI store to return it. It took 1 hour to return it, complete waste of my time. not to mention gas driving that heavy thing around.
devective product
I bought a sofa set was suppose to be a regular sofa but the brought me a sofa bed and it defective. They came to fix it twice and its still setting on the floor. I paid for one thing and got something else. I'm very unhappy with Artvan and won't ever shop there again. I would like to get what I paid for.If I wanted a sofa bed I would have bought one. I hope to here back from someone if Artvan cares about their customers I will hear from them about my situation very concern customer.
late payment
Bought a mattress from Art Van about a year ago on credit, make payments on-line. Payments are due around the 17th of each month. Made payment for Dec. in late November. Just got my bill with a $25.00 late payment even though I payed early. Called and they checked and I was paid up but still would not reverse the late payment. How can one be charged a late payment for paying early?
sells cheap furniture
Purchased a complete dining room set 13 months ago from art van furniture. had items redelivered 3-4 times because it kept coming damaged. scratches easily and now 13 months later china cabinet is sagging and ART VAN won't do anything about it. cheap cheap products. wil never ever buy from them again. sales people only care about making that sale and not being honest with the customer. i guess they don't want repeat business. they don't stand behind their product. horrible customer service. if you care about your furniture lasting don't go to art van.
waste of money
I purchased a living room set for about $3500. After 1 1/2, one of my pillows needed more padding and one of the hand rests, the leather was peeling off. It took them 1 week to come out to look at it, and another week to send someone out to pick up the furniture.After 13 days, they brought back the furniture fealty, dirty, a totally different color compared to the chair that was not taken and it had a cut in the pillow that they have worked on. I complained about three weeks before they send someone over here to look at it. I told them right away, that I wont clean it until they come out and look at it, once the repair guy came, he told me that we made it dirty and that I needed to take a toothbrush and clean it very well. What a joke right ? Now after about 3 months, the color is coming off, the hand rest is still cracked( they fixed it 2x now) and there is also a board in the back of the couch that keeps popping out. I received a call from management today and she told me " There is nothing that we will do about this", I kept dealing with Keri, and I received a call from Stacy today. I asked her why she is calling me, but she was just rude and wouldn't even talk to me, all she kept repeating was that she will not do anything about it. After many days off work to take care of this, many sleepless nights over this, I want my furniture replaced or I want my money back. I purchased an extra warranty that is supposed to be covering any problems with the leather or the furniture it self, but for some reason, nothing is covered under warranty, even thou they worked on all of this already. Interesting! I contacted Natuzzi, manufacturer of the furniture, and I was told that their warranty is void because I have been using the cleaner (Art Van Cleaner) that I was sold when I bought the furniture.
horrible
Have nothing positive to say about art van, waited 12 yrs to give them a second chance & yet again~they blew it with poor treatment! They should be shut down, I honestly feel stupid for even giving them a 2nd chance, I knew better from the first time they mistreated me & I lost thousands of $. I will make sure I tell everyone of my negative negative experience with them & how awful they treat the consumers... Grrrr! The art van stores in genesee co. (Flint) are the worst!

harrasing phone calls
For about 6 mos. I have been receiving Robocalls from Art Van on my mobile phone. I receive the calls during the day at work, received them on Thanksgiving morning at my home, etc. I asked three times to have my name and numbers taken off the robo call system. I asked again to be taken off the system. I hope it works this time. I don't want to shop somewhere that thanks me with annoying robo calls. Even worse, they wouldn't take me off when I requested.
deceptive practices
We purchased a large chest for our bedroom. They charged an 80 dollar delivery fee. They happily charged my credit card.
Item arrives and cannot fit through my stairwell. Delivery guys take it away, say I am all set. I call to get the charge removed from my credit card. I am informed that my options are store credit or a 15 percent restocking fee. I am pissed off and challenge their ridiculous policy. They imply that I am an *** for not knowing it wouldn't fit. They stated that they would charge my card 15percent of purchase price saying that it was in the fine print on the back of purchase agreement that I signed. If they would have mentioned that policy, I never would have purchased the item. This company won't last 10 more years.
you bought it. not art vans fault that it didnt fit were you wanted it. at that point it could have stayed on the first floor. it was in the house. its not the companies fault if you cant measure correctly. your an idiot.
don't shop there
The back of the couch I bought is coming off and there are several exposed staples that are sharp enough to cut you if you get too close to them. I bought the couch last year at Art Van, the Hall rd store. Also two of the legs are cracked. When I called customer service they said in effect "we will do nothing about those problems."
They want to charge me to fix the problems. I wouldn't trust that either.
That's the quality level you can expect at Art Van and the level of customer service you can expect - if you are daring enough to shop there!
only care about the sale
I bought over $4000 in furniture at one time in your Chesterfield store. The salessperson I have no complaints on. The delivery I do. When you buy a car you expect to get what you see is what you pay for. When you get your car you don't have to put it together. No one in the store told us that if you buy in the clerance section that when delivered you have to put it together. The reason for me going to ART VAN is so I get what I see. I could have gone to Big Lots or Walmart and paid cheaper to put together items or ordered from Sauder. My husband just got out of the hospital with a heart attack and then for 7 hours he was putting together our bedroom, living room and ping pong table we bought for our new home. I have always bought from ART VAN and have recomended it for other people who like my furniture now I have nothing good to say because when I called they say oh well. Forget you ART VAN. I have 2 more bedrooms to complete. All I want is compensation for this and no one will talk to me that is poor customer service.

cheap quality
I bought a table and chairs from the Mission Hills Collection that were described as;
Construction: Constructed using veneers over wood and select solids.
The select solids turn out to be plastic! All the trim on the set is plastic that scratches easily and shows white against the dark oak set color. I called corporate and set up an in home visit from their repair people. They said it was a cheap set, what do I expect! I was told I should have shopped at Gormans if I wanted quality. I called back to corporate and was told that they will not take the set back as it is over the 30 day return period. I can pay to have the plastic repainted or they will give me 15% off a new dinning set. This is crappy service. I'll take my money elsewhere.
