Bullying by management, poor quality at HIGH prices
Was bullied by manager of store 2286;
-don't spent so much time with customers
-you don't show any initiative
-you aren't reliable
-fabricated complaints (anynomous emails)
-total lack of concern for health and welfare of all employees in stores
Quit when ice storm made roads hazardous and was told I still had to report for work.
They motto: Gouge the customer, screw the employees.
Desired outcome: Formal complaint filed, no action ever taken. Corporate does not investigate or reprimand BAD managers (store, district, or regional)
Sexual harassment by management - internal complaint
While training at the Erie Joann Fabrics store at 7200 Peach St Unit 150, Erie, PA 16509, I was sexually harassed by a visiting manager from Altoona. I believe he is the Altoona store manager and (I believe) his name is Brian Gazelman.
The Altoona store is located at 3415 Pleasant Valley Blvd Ste 78, Altoona, PA 16602.
He was in the Erie store training the new manager. Upon leaving the backroom area after taking a 15-minute break, he placed his hand on my butt with momentum. There was a male team member in the back room when this occurred, however, as it was my first day, I had not yet learned his name.
My name is Michalene Morelli. My number is [protected]. My email is [protected]@protonmail.com. Please contact me for any additional information.
Desired outcome: Accountability.
It's people like you that make a bad name for employees. I wouldn't blame him if he sued you for defamation, but then again, you probably don't have anything to your name for him to get. This was underhanded and trashy!
I have a confession to make. This never really happened. I made it up because he wrote me up on my first day for being on my cell phone while I was supposed to working. In retaliation I made this up about him.
You don't have to lie although women are forced to lie or stay silent especially if a white male assaulted you. I get it, you're trying to stay out of prison for reporting him.
Customer service related to questions about a sewing machine
Just after Christmas, I purchased a new sewing machine for my mom whose machine finally gave up the ghost (after more than 40 years of use). We went to our trusted Joanns to find a new machine. We purchased one and mom got to sewing. Unfortunately, she had some issues with the needle breaking. As an experienced seamstress, she couldn't figure out what wa...
Read full review of Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft StoresYour new remnant policy
I've have been a JoAnn's customer for over 30 years now. I've always felt your fabrics are overpriced for the quality. For example, your outdoor fabric sells for 21.99 a yard. Even when it's on sale it is more expensive than the same fabric sold by Walmart for $6.97 a yard - Everyday! That is not my main point though. when I want quality fabric (tighter thread count etc) I go to a quilt shop.
My complaint is that now when you come to the end of a bolt and want to get the last remaining bit, they have to cut it off. For example, if you want a yard of fleece and there's a yard and 1/4 lef, they will give you the remnant price for the 1&1/4 yard, but they will cut it off from the yard piece you are purchasing at regular price. Honestly, you don't make enough money off people already and now you are doing this?!
I make a lot of blankets to give away to nursing homes and pregnancy centers for babies, so I can spend quite a bit on the material. It's been helpful when I can get a slightly bigger piece of fabric for a little more discount. It disgusts me that you have implemented this policy. And it makes me want to take my business elsewhere! There are several Hobby Lobby's near me that sell fabric as well as Wal-Mart!
Disappointed,
Lisa Martens
Desired outcome: do away with this new remnant policy!!!
Rude employee
So I usually love going into Joann's in Evansville, Indiana. They have good selections and usually everyone is pretty nice. But today was not that experience. So I needed some fabric cut, I didn't see anyone waiting but decided I should probably get a ticket just incase. Because usually that is super important to the employees. But as I walked toward it, the coworker says "I'm right here you don't need a ticket" I said okay and started walking toward her to only be called a "Stupid fu**ing idiot". She said it under her breathe but I heard it clear as day. I was shocked and didn't say anything to her. I work in customer service and the store was busy. So I get it. I've have dealt with some people who were flat out awful to me and wanted to tell them how I felt. But at the same time I seriously did nothing wrong. So when I checked out I did mention to the nice lady of what I got called. She apologized. Not to be that person but I spend way to much money there to be called a f-ing idiot. I don't cause issues, I get my stuff and go. I understand how hard customer service is, but that doesn't give you the right to say things like that when I literally did NOTHING WRONG. Thank you Stephine for calling me a f-ing idiot :)
Desired outcome: attitude adjustment
Gift card
4 times I tried buy stuff at Joanns using a gift carc. Each time I was told they didn't know how, spent 30 to 45 minutes trying to learn how at my expense, only to say sorry, it's not working. 4TIMES I had to pay with my debit card. Today was the last straw, same scenario, and again a sorry. Not acceptable. If you are going to sell them, train your employees how to USE them. I can't be the only person trying to use one.
Now I am stuck with a useless card and the person who bought it is out $60.
What a scam. Your company should be ashamed of your lack of training and ineptness.
I will no longer shop at your store and will encourage others to do the same and definitely NOT buy a gift card.
Desired outcome: Teach your employees how to use a gift card
Order Number: wut9olFS9vQz
I placed an order for a sewing machine and got real nervous because I received no proper order confirmation from you. I requested to cancel as I am not at all comfortable ordering a sewing machine for a gift from an online company who does not communicate. I am willing to pay 25.00 to cancel this order to prevent it from shipping or you can tell me how. I do not see the point of refusing it as was suggested especially when it has not shipped. I actually was going to order another instead from you but now I have absolutely no trust in your company. I wanted to order accessories etc but needed to get the right machine.
Please do the right thing and have a human being help someone!
Thank you,
Sandy Pennie
Desired outcome: Cancel and refund my payment
Corporate beliefs
I have been a customer of this store for 38 years. I was very diappointed when I went to purchase fabric and noticed that all the employees name tags have pronouns under the employee's name. I do not have any idea why we have to have this choked down our throats. I have made the decision that I no longer be a dedicated customer. I realize that I am only one person, but it only takes one to start the ball rolling. I have always been very pleased with the customer servvice, quality of merchandise and very clean store. I
Desired outcome: Oracle Road Tucson, AZ
Discrimination
This is a none-member facility, and therefore is a public domain. Kelly, manager at the Port Orchard, WA JoAnn fabrics was grossly disrespectful and would not let me in without a mask. I am medically exempt. This is blatant discrimination and is unacceptable It is in direct violation of the civil rights act.
She did not offer to help or provide an occomadation to help with the purchase of the items I needed.
Instead, she persisted and made customers turn their heads.
Unacceptable, Kelly in Port Orchard.
Desired outcome: DO NOT DISCRIMINATE.
Husqvarna viking topaz 50 sewing and embroidery machine
I bought this machine on 9-1-2021 at the Shawnee, KS store. It is supposed to come with an embroidery unit (BE-18). This was a clearance machine, still on the shelf and this store didn't have one in stock. Their records showed they had 3 in stock at this store, but after several employees tried to find one, they couldn't. I was dumbfounded that 3 machine...

My order # [protected] placed on 8/1/21 arrived in one big MESS. I order quite a bit of yarn from Joann Fabric and have never had this problem before. The box was obviously pieced together with very little tape. Bottom of the box was caved in, brown paper for stuffing was less than beneficial. I am including pictures of the box and the skein of yarn that I can't even use. Looks like someone tried to start it and couldn't - having same problem I do.
Please advise.
Thank you!

on line order - material
I ordered 8 yards of material (was not available in store, only on line). I received two shipments - 7 yards and 1 yard. I need a running 8 yards - when I contacted Joanne, I was told they cannot guarantee a customer will get the full order in one piece, it is based on what is available at different stores. I asked if this was listed anywhere on their website or ordering process and was told no. This information should be available to customers before ordering.

Price Match for Cricuit purchase
Hello,
I purchased a Cricut on 5/10/21. I found this same product online at Amazon for $329 in stock. I sent all of this information to customer service and they said they do not price match Amazon. But, on your website it clearly states that you price match certain online vendors and Amazon is listed as your first. I would like and explanation as to why I am not able to get a price match. I was told in 2 separate emails that it is because you cannot walk into a Amazon store to shop but if that is the case it should not be on the website that you price match online vendors and then list them.
Desired outcome: price match refund and explanation of why this is on your website if you do not honor online vendors
Most Joann's only price match Amazon when it's not on sale... Like if the sale price was $329 on Amazon most would allow it to be matched. But since it's on sale it cannot. The screenshot you provided actually says one of the reasons they cannot take it. It's an online exclusive price and online exclusive prices cannot be matched. If you wanted it at the special amazon prince you should have purchased it off amazon.
E=mails
I want off your E-mail list. They are annoying, too many and filling my E-mail to capacity. I do not understand why a weekly, no more, is not adequate. i WILL NOT SHOP AT YOUR COMPANY UNTIL THIS ENDS. Stop it now!
Constant mistakes
I took a large order of masks back because of poor quality and two were not packaged. The manager told me I couldn't have ordered them from her store, When I showed her the packing slip she said I must have removed the mask from the package. Very rude. From another purchase: It took 3 hours for me to check out after my material was cut. The clerk had to...

I was issued two refunds for corporate refund checks on January 10, 2021 to be sent to me. I had been in communication with the Store manager and Asst. Store manager who actually assisted me with three previous returns (signing them) on my recently deceased mothers un-used new material as l etc. Each received a corporate check for dates of January 3, 2021 & December 20, 2020 & and a cash refund of $ 120.00 on December 18, 2020. All without receipts but luckily still in the original packaging, mfg boxes, and Joann bags. My January 10th refunds never arrived so I reached out to returns customer service for status. I was than told to pick up the fabric or take a store credit? A day later I received a email from customer service asking for detailed information on my return, email, original dates of purchase, which I quickly replied with and asked why they are asking for all this additional information...No one could tell me why? The store manager said the store policy was changed, inwhich I was bring penalized for their policy change after my transactions were done? Basically I was being called a thief and they were trying to imply that 3 bolts of unbleached muslin were stolen? Funny how when I returned it the sales associate was able to scan the bolts and the bolts were identified in the Joanne SKU files in their computer system?Absurd! I was given the choice to pick up the bolts of muslin or a useless store credit. I than took the store credit as they threatened that if I did not come in soon I would be forced to forfeit my merchandise/store credit! What a way to treat someone who's late mother taught all the quilting, cake decorating, needlework adult education classes in Bellevue, Ne. My late mother bought all her needs at this Joann store in Bellevue, ne. She also encouraged all her students to buy all their needs for class and leisure at this store. Pathetic way of biting the hand that keeps your sad little store open in Bellevue, Ne! Talk about Bait & Switch on an honest customer! No wonder this store is so empty. I have/will notify all local contacts of this horrible experience with trying to defame my character without any grounds, basis, or reasonable explanation. Even the supervisor at the returns customer service did not have the courage to call me and explain why the 30 day runaround? Cowards and shady business practice!
Desired outcome: A call from the CEO with a legit explanation of their attempt to defame me!
Store credit
I received a few presents for my grandmother for crocheting and things of that nature that my daughter took back to Jo-Ann Fabrics when she returned them we didn't have a receipt and they told her that they can only refund her 50% of what the item cost in so they returned it for only half plant half of what it all costed and then we went back to use the card there was nothing on the card they check the money off of the card I need to know why they took my money off of my card and there's nothing on the cards and in the beginning and why they only gave 50% back to us this sounds a bit Shady to me something's going on and I need to be contacted my name is Nikki and my number is [protected] I also had a friend tell me that they do that when they think you have stolen the items which is bull crap because they cannot assume somebody stole these items and also the items did not come from that store they were sent from out-of-state how can they just decide what items they want to consider a stolen and try to take your gift card it's insane and they owe me money they cannot just take my money I'm going to contact the Better Business Bureau next if I have to
Your customer service @ [protected]
After holding for 17 minutes, spoke with carlos to clarify if an item I am interested in buying is excluded from your 50% off coupon. The coupon says we can call # to get further info on exclusions, he said I had to call the store, I asked for call to be escalated, he placed me on hold and after 5 or so minutes of waiting the call hung up. At the beginning of the call he asked for my call back number in case we got disconnected, now why we he say that and not call me back? Now I am on hold for a second time, I have been on hold now for 20 minutes. This is ridiculous. I just got my call answered by a gia. So apparently you guys outsource your customer service and who knows what else mexico! As per gia, I was reaching her outside the usa. I asked to speak to a supervisor and once again, after holding for about 5 minutes, my call got disconnected again. Unbelievable! You guys are a joke! With so many people without work in the usa, you outsource your customer service outside the usa. So unpatriotic. I will be blasting all social media about how you support mexico and not the usa. I have no interest dealing with a company that deals with foreign countries. Shame on you! You have lost one of many customers to come. This is so evident by the condition of your stores, the level of customer service they provide and your hiring of foreigners when you have millions in the us you could hire.
Refusal to unsubscribe me from their email list.
Multiple times I have requested to unsubscribe from JoAnn Fabrics emails. JoAnn still sends me multiples everyday of the week. You are effectively taking away my right to choose whether I want your communications or not, thus violating the laws put in place to protect consumers. If JoAnn does not cease and desist with spamming my email box, I will file an official complaint with my State Attorneys General to stop you from continuing to violate my rights. I have also repeatedly attempted to block your email address to no avail — no doubt, JoAnn has some way of circumventing the block. You spam me everyday. This whole experience has been so offensive, I will never shop there again. My experience has caused me to conclude that JoAnn Fabrics is a corporate bully who victimizes their customers. I will warn others about your underhanded practices. I will stay the course until I get rid of your daily spam in my mailbox. Greed drives this offensive action conducted by JoAnn fabrics. You will never get my money again. Unsubscribe me, just as I have repeatedly requested at least 15 times and still counting.
