Public Storage storage unit.

I had rented a storage unit from 6/2016 until 3/2017, during that time rats invested and ruined my whole 2 bedroom apartment full of belongings. Also, there was mold and an apparent water leak. The local manager and corporate office refuse to assist me with compensation for my damaged property. I have lost almost all of my worldly possessions. They refuse to compensate me because I declined insurance. I did so after I was assured that their were no problems with rodents, bed bugs, mold, and rodents. I have since found out from one of their employees that was a lie, they have had reoccurring issues with mold and rodents. I have a video of the moving helper testifying about the rat droppings on most of my boxes and the rat they saw running into the hole pictured below. Lastly, they raised my rent from $214.00 a month to $245.00 without even notifying me. Thankfully, I was moving out the day of the rent hike. I paid them to destroy my property!

Public Storage rental price fraud

Hello,
This is 6th time I'm writing regarding this problem.
I called to find a place for my semi-truck.
I found a public storage branch in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
I gave the dimensions over the phone (to public storage employee), I gave from-to dates, I have been told about the price, I accepted mentioned price and than I received a reservation e-mail with a reservation number and the price.
When I appeared on agreed date, the price was double higher! I had a flight to catch that day and I couldn't look for other place to leave my truck.
The employee was aware of that.
Pure example of fraud.
I will be back in April, and for sure will press charges against Public Storage if we don't settle like this.
Reservation No. was- [protected]
Agreed monthly rate was 83$
But it miraculously changed to 154.78 when the Public Storage official find out I have to fly to Europe that day.
I expect you to answer me, finally.
Regards,
Boris Rebac

Public Storage public storage is using an illegal contract in california, violating sssfa and all their customers in the process.

I say this out of my own Experience with Public Storage Inc and then researching the law and their illicit Form Contract that does indeed violate that law in multiple provisions they have authored into it. And they hold the contract up like Captain America's Shield when it actually illegal!

If you have experienced Public Storage Inc. tacking on late charges at the drop of a hat, that's because they do, and they are violating the Governing Storage Laws set forth in California with their Scofflaw Contract that is in Violation for the actual laws of CA. Public Storage as a policy are sleazy and deceitful and apply their late charge days before they are actually allowed to by law, and they don't stop there! They then deceitfully Defraud their late customers by illegally stacking on two more late fees they call "Lein Sale" fees, but these are indeed additional late fees that violate SSSFA, the Governing Law for their industry. They know most people don't know the law and they aggressively make the customers feel that it is their own fault if they were late, when they are deceitfully tacking on more charges then they are legally allowed to. And they have been getting away with it!

Public Storage as a policy are blatant Scofflaw Corporate Thieves. I would suggest any other storage place that does not use the same contract, as many do, taking a sleazy cue from the Corporate Thievery Public Storage Inc. subjects their California customers to as a corporate policy.

Public Storage unwarranted, late fee and no customer service

I am renting a storage space from public storage. I recently tried to pay my monthly rental online through their website. For some reason I kept getting an error. wrong URL. Since I was logged into their website I figured the error had to be theirs. after trying 4 times with no success, I paid it through bill pay though my bank. I paid on the 7th public storage say they didn't receive it until the 14th. now they want to charge me a $15 late fee. I have never been late paying the rental in about 3 years and don't think I should pay now. they don't have a customer service line so I have no one to talk to.

Public Storage I rented a storage on 2/6 and it was broken in on 2/13, yes a week later!

I went to the store at 26572 and purchased a storage. The people their a man and a woman helped me. We were talking and she asked me was I sure that I needed a small unit? I said yes! It's for my daughters shoes and others things that she left, when she moved by to Nashville! I think the ladies name is Betty, not sure. But she took me to see the storage and it was dirty, said I need to go and get a broom. Then she said do you have a lock, I said no, but I'm going to get one and I did from harbor freight. I made about four trips and locked it each time that I left. The moral of this story is I said to your employees that my daughters shoes where in the unit and one or both of them stole them. In a week's time. Their were no other customers around when I said her shoes were in storage, just your employees. Mrs.. Janis Robinson

Public Storage storage locker

Public storage pirates, lies, broken promises, locks your unit, confiscates your material! Headquarters glendale, az, u. S. A.

Public storage promises $1 for the first month's rent. My first month's "rent" totaled 57.25! They never did a one dollar rent for me. Public storage has doubled their rates over the past 3 years. The unit is the smallest available and, there is no climate control; not even a pull string light. The rate is $187/month for the smallest unit. The rate is an outrage. A storage unit with no climate control nor any thing else would be 5/month absolute tops. I could not afford the outrageous rate. These are very hard times, and public storage has to charge less, not double. That is the poorest of public relations! I told the "manager" that I could not pay the outrageous rent right now, but I do have work lined up within the next month. We have been unable to find any place to rent for 9 months. Whereupon, public storage put an "over lock" on my unit! When I patiently explained to public storage that any storage provider will allow 3 months before taking punitive measures, the "district manager" and the employee made up lies that "in the contract" this and that! Any contract that is immoral is automatically null and void.

Public storage does not even tell you where your material will be auctioned off! I told them that my wife and I have winter clothes, overcoats, long johns, et cetera, and that they must remove the lock so that we can at least get that. "customer focus" my big toe! It is a "member s&p 500". So what! Public storage are pirates; preying on people. Public confiscation of your assets must have all of their assets confiscated and the moneys distributed to those whom have been robbed by this predatory, pirating, ransacking, secretive, heinous, criminal, abominable outfit!
Public storage did not even give our long johns back. They even auctioned them off, which is a violation of municipal and state health statutes.

Public Storage hot unit and late fee

From: Sixcia Devine #25439

In October I was set up for automatic withdrawal payments but when my card needed to be updated the withdrawal service was not updated. I am currently being charged $47.00 for a late fee. I am asking that this fee be waived. I have never been late and always pay on time. I was initially on the automatic withdrawal program and I never received ANY updates about getting off of auto pay. I received this phone number from your sales rep to try and contact the Customer Service Department [protected] - however I get prompted to a voice message every time I call. The telephone you have on this website [https://www.publicstorage.com/florida/self-storage-boca-raton-fl/33433-self-storage/425] does not work PHONE [protected] - Please update.

I would be happy to directly contact Ronald L. Havner, Jr. Chairman of the board and CEO or Joseph D. Russell, Jr. President but I understand that they are involved in other matters as it relates to growing their customer base and overall business growth strategies. Excellent customer service, proper contact information and communication services are priorities that can not be overlooked.

Temperature issues with Public Storage: When I moved my items into Public Storage the temperature was extremely hot - over 80 degrees! The manager and the sales associated, who kindly walked me to my unite, assured me that the unit would be cooled. When I returned to the unite, 4 weeks later, the temperature issue was not resolved and the space was steaming hot. The Sales Rep assured me, once again, that the situation was to be resolved. Today, when I received a call about being late with my payment I asked for an update and the representative told me that she would have an update for me in regards to the temperture status It would be great if someone could call me immediately so we can resolve these issues. My direct line is [protected].

Thank you.

Public Storage no notice of auction

I wasn't told until last Friday that my unit is going to auction tomorrow. When I spoke with property manager 2 weeks ago she never mentioned it! I'm in recovery from alcohol and I'm currently volunteering as an Addiction Recovery Coach in Bridgeport, CT. I moved my stuff into a unit at Public Storage #27013 when I relocated to a sober house in bdpt. I am able to pay the amount in full on this Thursday, and I don't understand why I have a new bill that was emailed yesterday. I was told I had to pay $361.45 to avoid auction tomorrow, and yesterday I received an email stating my new balance of $458.23 including rent for December. How does that make sense? What if I pay the new balance of $458.23 by this weekend coming up? Can you not auction my belongings which is everything I have for my child and myself since I started recovery in January, and I would to be able to keep especially being that I'm going through a reunification with DCF right now.

Public Storage liars

Do not use Public Storage, these people are real thieves and liars!
First of all they lied to me about the size of the unit, it was way smaller than it was described. So I ended up renting another unit and paying extra!
Then they increased the bill without any warning. I went to their local office and they said that later they will increase the bill again!
These money hungry scammers!
People, check the reviews, read about these guys before you decide to use their service! They are terrible!

Public Storage bait and switch pricing

We were baited and switched. We signed up online for $158 / month. I asked at the store in person if this was an introductory rate and we were told that sometimes the rates might go up "like after a year or something, but usually only by like $5 dollars." Obviously I wasn't comfortable with this answer so I read every word of our agreement and there was no language citing that this was an introductory rate, nothing specifying a time frame for a rate increase, or any other verbiage of the sort. Six months in, I notice my AMEX is getting auto-hit for $199. I'd say $41 is a little more than "like $5 dollars." Pure bait and switch from a company that pays its CEO $7.5MM per year+. Awful and stressful experience. It's sad that they have to resort to unfair and deceptive practices such as this. Public Storage has so many units and so many properties, grabbing $100+ from every one of those units is more than enough to enrich themselves, but instead they run a highly competitive sales game with districts and regions, and focus solely on the bottom line, which unfortunately, gives them the peace of mind to screw people.

Public Storage public storage rent increase vs. new rental offerings

I moved to Johns Creek, GA in February, 2015 and had to downsize from 5-bedroom home to 2-bedroom apartment. Rented a 10x30 Storage Unit for $244. After only 4-months later the rent was increased to $286 (17% increase). 2nd Lease Renewal increase rent to $335 (another 17%).

Property Manager (John) unable to help, but he is a great guy. Customer Service (Demonte) [protected] was very "Cavalier" in his attitude and not very helpful. Demonte should not be in Customer Service but he is a clear reflection of Public Storage's business culture and lack of caring for their customers once they have moved in.

Aside from the rent increase being excessive, they are well above the $269 price currently offered for new move-ins to the same sized unit. This is true across multiple local Public Storage locations. This seems like an unfair, and perhaps illegal, business practice.

BEWARE OF PUBLIC STORAGE RENT INCREASES!

I moved into Public Storage locate at 1600 Watson Ct. Milpitas, CA 95035 over a year ago, December 2015 to be exact. The rents were $300 +/- a month for the first unit and $250 +/- for second unit. Now my rents are $399 for the first unit and $365 +/- for the second unit. Couple months ago I spoke to one of my neighbor unit next to mine. He said he had rent there for about 10 years and he was currently pay $500 a month. At the same time Public Storage offers $1 first month rent and $288 +/- a month after that. This is for units size 10x30. This is really interesting/questioning how Public Storage runs its business. I would imagine they would like to have as many units occupy as possible all the time and want the current tenants to stay as long as possible. After all, advertise and promotions was all about, right? First month rent for $1 is a good promotion to draw the customers to the company and hopefully customers will stay after their first month. What am saying is it doesn't make sense and not fair for customers who rent the same size units for more than 5 years have to pay almost twice as much as new ĉustomers just moved in. First month rent for $1 is a good promotion, but to avoid that for the benefits of the company, Public Storage should set up discount prices to honor their loyal customers who rent long term instead of raising the rent every few months. I urge the higher level of management, district manager, corporate office, especially, company's financial department look into this matter and work out a better plan.

Public Storage unfair business practices, theft of services, and bad customer service

Public Storage ruined me and my kids life. I went thru a verybad domestic situation and was forced to put allmy belongings in storage in 7/15 and go into a safe haven with and my children. In 4/2016 I moved into a house and had planned on retrieving our things from storage. Two days after moving in i found out i was a victim of fraud and the house i was renting did not belong to the landlord. I contacted the DA office and police to file a complaint and was told that this individual was being watched by the police and feds for committing housing fraud. At this point me and my children became homeless smh. I was told the contact pa victim services and that relocation expenses, storage, and my stolen cash would be replaced. I was unable to pay for the storage and the Da and victim compensation contacted public storage several times to let them know that my unit would get paid for, however no return call was given. I was notified that my unit would be going into auction on 6/21. Finally on 6/20 the victim ppl got in touch with the district manager and was told that there was nothing they could do and the auction would still go on. Unable to pay me and my childrens things were auctioned for 600 in rent (April, May, and June) and 400 in late fees. I became so distraught due to my kids being so upset i attempted suicide smh. While in the hospital my sister looked up my account and seen that only 100 dollars was credited tomy account for over 20k in clothes, furniture, jewelry... EVERYTHING WE OWNED! When my sister questioned why this was done and why only a credit of 100 was received she was threatened by the district manager that he was turning over this account to there legal team. My sister then recieved a call from someone who works at public storage and told her that two staff had stolen stuff out of my unit before the auction. I just feel like this was a very evil and cruel thing to do considering the circumstances not to mention the city was paying for the bill due to me being a victim of a crime. Public Storage has really ruined me and my childrens life and its unfair that staff were able to come up off a sad mishap that was no fault of mine.i am a wreck right now and so are my children because lots of things were irreplaceable along with memorabilia from a deceased child 😥😥 i jus dont know what to do and i feel like this was personal because the employees knew the value of the things in my storage unit. Im so hurt right now and i want this situation exposed and want people to hear our story. I have consulted an attorney although nothing can replace my things i would like to expose public storage for being the crooks that they are!

Public Storage illegal fees and "auction" practices

"This company preys on it's consumers. Their rates jump after the 2nd month, which shuts out most renters and it is when their items go for "auction". There is no real auction. Even when you win, they give it to their "auctioneers". The manager's behavior was so abusive, it resulted in a stay in the hospital.

The CEO of the company makes $10M a year off of its' customers that pay for months and years for items only to have them auctioned with no warning, even when you call and inquire.

Their regional manager, Brent Winslow takes no responsibility for their companies abusive practice.

As required by law personal items like paperwork will never be returned. Instead, they make a fake "return".

In an era of corporate callous PUBLIC STORAGE located in local Glendale should be regulated, just like the check cashing as they are a predatory industry.

We will not stop until there are no more PUBLIC STORAGE stealing the soul and items of hardworking and desperate consumers.

Public Storage unauthorized ach withdrawal from a non-client

First I want to explain that I do not rent from Public Storage, I have never rented from Public Storage, and I do not have any rental agreement with Public Storage. I AM NOT THEIR CUSTOMER! Somehow Public Storage made an unauthorized ACH withdrawal for $216 from my checking account in May 2016. I did NOT WRITE A CHECK FOR $216 to Public Storage. I filed a fraud report with my bank and they are investigating. So far they tell me that Public Storage had my bank account number and the bank’s routing number, and using these numbers Public Storage was able to do a fraudulent withdrawal. My phone calls and emails to Public Storage customer support have elicited no help at all in this matter. I looked in my files, which I have kept for over 15 years, and found that eleven years ago I sent a check to Public Storage to pay a bill ONE TIME for an acquaintance who had a Public Storage rental unit and a contract with them. (Acquaintance was low on funds, I paid for him.) I did not have a rental unit or any contract with Public Storage; I never did, and never will. It is important to note that eleven years ago my check went to Public Storage directly, not to the person with the rental unit, therefore only Public Storage had my checking account number and routing number. Public Storage kept a copy of my check for ELEVEN (11) years, then in May 2016 used my account number from my old check to withdraw $216 from my checking account. I do not rent from Public Storage, I never have, I have no contract or agreement with them, I do not owe them any money, yet they took $216 from me. Public Storage should give me an immediate refund, and fire the manager-accountant who performed this fraudulent ACH withdrawal. I filed a fraud report with my bank, a police report, and filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Protection Division of the State Attorney General’s Office. Still awaiting a resolution.
