I had signed up select home warranty in July of 2023. Unfortunately I had to file a claim in October of the same year for my AC compressor which was covered in my contract. They used every excuse to not cover the claim. 1st is was that the problem was caused by an electrical short circuit and stated that it is not covered. Both their contractor and a contractor that I hired confirmed that there was no electrical short circuit but rather cause by normal wear and tear which they are supposed to cover based on the contract. After I got their manager to agree that it should be covered, and that he would resubmit the claim for approval. Then came the 2nd excuse, that I was within the 30 days from when I started the contract. This was also not true because I was already in my third month of coverage. I also validated this with one of their managers over the phone. The manager said the same, "Yes it should be covered and he will resubmit for approval". Then came the 3rd excuse the in addition of the 30 days, I had to wait another 30 days, so they would not approve it. Again, this was not true because I was in my 3rd month of coverage. I called again and again the manager I spoke to agreed that it should be covered and would resubmit it for approval. Then came the 4th excuse that in addiction to the first 30 days, plus additional 30 day I have to wait an additional 5 days, so they would not approve. At this point I was fed up. I have attorneys paid for by my company for any consumer legal actions, so I decided to have an attorney to review the contract to validate if they were in breach of contract. The attorney confirmed that they were in fact in breach and informed me that the would send a letter to their legal department to honor the contract to prevent further legal action. The letter was sent and they never responded. So now I am in the process of filling a suit. I was told my my attorney not to cancel the contract yet until we hear from them. I did not cancel the contract and continued paying. That legal action is still pending. Since I am still in contract, I had a problem with my toilet leaking, so I called to file a claim, they sent out a contractor who at first did not fix the issue, then when I called them back, their contractor said that they needed to replace a part in the toilet to fix it and needed to get authorization from SHW. I received a text that my claim was complete event hough I still had the problem. I called the contractor to ask why, and they said that SHW approved for the part but I would have to pay for all the labor costs. At this point I was fed up again and called SHW. I asked if they would pay for the repairs because this is the main reason people get home warranty service. They said that I would need to pay the labor cost and maybe in a future claim, they would pay for labor costs. At this point I was done. I asked for my account with them be cancelled, and I did not want their service anymore. They tried everything for me not to cancel with the exception of repairing my toilet and they did with my AC. I told them, it does not matter what they offer, lower payment, future payment of labor cost anything. If they can't fix my issue, I do not want to continue with their service. They still kept trying by offing bogus things like, "Did you know we cover over 49 items in your house hold" I told them, I do not care what they say they cover, they are always going to find some excuse to get out of covering anything. I only wanted them to cancel my account. Then the agent told me that for me to cancel I needed to pay a cancellation fee. I told them that they would not get another penny from me and they needed to cancel my account ASAP. I cancelled my payment option they had on file and requested a new card so they could not charge me anything anymore.

In conclusion, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH SELECT HOME WARRANTY. They are a scam and they will soon be served with a law suit for the AC repair that the refused to cover.

Thank you for giving me the channel to write my complain about this company, my only hope is that no one else falls for their scam,

Thanks again,

Best regards,

Claimed loss: Compressor repair for my AC unit.

Desired outcome: That the honor the claim and pay for the repairs as per the contract.
