I have started getting these curious updates from Airtel 3333- I never subscribed to such stupidity- but I keep getting them- and they are doing an amazingly good job of it! An sms every 2 mins to give me details on the match between India and SL! WOWOW! and they top it up with trivia too... Now this is what I call abject disregard for personal space!

AIRTEL and Sunil Mittal has managed to show total disregard for (add Arun Bhasin and Anil Ambani into the equation too...) customer service! I think they loathe to think that they are in the business of serving the customer! network is a farce, they just do not have the bandwidth, all they are interested is in the consumers' money, you try a number, they connect you for a mere 1 second- you are billed and then promptly you get a network failure message...

I have called Airtel customer service to rectify the sms menace and a recharge problem(well, they do have a number for customer service- but that is more for effect, rather than any serious remedy for customer problems) several times, only to hear various excuses of their NOT Solving the problem. You just have to give it to them- they do have an impressive repertoire of excuses!

Who do we complain to? TRAI? The last resort?

Airtel customer care executives are very irresponsible. These guys do not have proper information regarding any service plan. I doubt they even register any complain or any request. I am staying in sector 41A chandigarh, india. Till now i have called 12 times to Airtel customer care. Every time i am told that Airtel executive will visit my place for connection. Its going to me one month and no one has called me on my phone nor any one has visited my place.

This is really disappointing. Airtel must look for this, otherwise its useless to upgrade technology if service provided is not up to the mark.

I suggest you can do the tit for tat.

Just buy a number starting with 900...
anything prepaid or postpaid will do.

In this number there are no incoming so you can file a consumer case on them.

If you wish to get your money and peace of mind back from those B*

I have recharge my Airtel prepaid two days ago. After recharge the service went offline. I called Airtel and they said they will fix the problem, its now second day until now the services are not fixed. Airtel customer service is among the worst of its kind in the market. The operators can barely speak english and when you report a problem they put you on hold for indefinite period. Its more than 48hrs and the service on my prepaid is still not restored. I rate Airtel as WORST SERVICE OPERATOR. After my horrific experience, i suggest people should rethink before subscribing any services from Airtel.

We got a corporate connection on Friday i.e. 18/07/2008 and i was asked to give my required docs with the amt of Rs. 250/- andi was committed that the connection will be activated within 2 hours, i did everything from my side as a part of docs and fees required to activate the connection but unfortunately Airtail failed to do the same, 2 hrs is out of question, till date i.e. 21/07/2008 the no is not activated, i also mentioned that we are in the new city so we need no urgently...apart from all these issues we could have still waited for few more hours but when we tried to call up SO CALLED customer service call center nobody was even bothered to pick up the call (SO UNPROFESSIONAL!) after many trails somebody picked up the phone when we told him for the same story he was telling us to again wait for 24 hours and he was so rude as if we were beggers and were forcing them to give us the connection(Aitel peope came to me for giving new corporate connection and not i had gone to them) when we told him to transfer the line to the manager he said the manager is not on the floor and the worst part is that he told us that you call later for further assistance and we told him that you just give us your name and employee id he is telling surely take it and very smartly in the continuation of the phone he disconnected the call ? We could have still waited but such a poor customer service...and it was so rude...we as a customer have thousands of options in the market today only it seems it was the mistake that we have choosen AIRTEL!

Airtel Customer Service is Pathetic. I have asked Airtel to discontinue my postpaid service as I was moving out of the Country for a while. Customer Care Confirms that by January-15-2008 number will be disconnected. I paid all the dues till that time frame hoping that i wont get the bill again. But what a shock even at July-20-2008 I am still receiving the bills. Every month they sent a bill to me and I reply to that mail that this number has been discontinued and I won’t pay the bill.

Just want to know, how to file the complaint in Consumer Court for harassing me for sending the bill for the disconnected line.

Airtel India is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They continue to bill for months after I terminated the service. They bill incorrectly at least half of the time. The customer service representatives are useless - they can't do anything but lodge a complaint. The email system stinks - they may email back, but they never resolve the issues. I have had nothing at all good happen with this company. They have been absolutely the worst service provider of any kind that I have ever had to deal with. I am glad to be rid of them.

They seriously need to revamp their system to be more customer friendly. It's horrible.

The Connectivity has been very Poor. The Signal is really bad and if you are on your move, if the tower changes there is loss of connectivity. I logged the complained twice with Airtel but no response. Another problem i face is the number has to be dialed twice or thrice before you really get connected. For the first time if you dial the number then it shows dialing and hangs. Some times the call end message comes.

It seems Airtel is growing its business to number 1 but without caring for the infrastructure to support the numbers. I am seriously thinking to shift from Airtel to another provider.

This is a very common problem with Airtel.
Their connections are growing at a pace but the network basics infrastructure is lacking. AirTel Website has every thing under the earth but the Customer Care numbers or Even the Customer Complaints section is MISSING ? :))

In Mumbai due to Fire the numbers are not working and also is the 121.

Good service and Customer Care :))))

Thank You Airtel for stimulating our brains to search for the platform to give complaint.

during last week, when airtel services was having loss of connectivity problem, they proven that they r worse. on one side they gave ad for apologizing the customer for unavailability of services and on other side they have started deducting money from customer for the services which they have not provided during the same period and all this deduction is without giving any reason for it. My balance was Rs 211/- before this period and when the partial services started i saw balance was Rs 147/-.
Airtel customer care is rude towards customer and thinks that they r making favor to us. for the above deduction they r not having proper reasons. In their customer care, some tells the deduction is against GPRS service (which was not active during the same period). some says that the deduction is for calls which I have made during this period when their service was totally stopped(there was no network connection for this full week). They r not stopped to this. after this also they continued deducting money and made it to Rs 43/- saying u have used GPRS service which I have not used during the week they r claiming. I had used GPRS on only 1 day and that also just before the week during which Airtel service was not available, and for that they have deducted money equal to 10 days GPRS charge.

For Airtel
If airtel is not taking any action on it and refunding me all my money, I am going to consumer court for legal matter against Airtel. and I can prove the fraud of Airtel against customers.

Dear Sir,

I possess a prepaid connection no.[protected] taken on last month 16th July, 2008. I have been using it for the past two months. Yesterday I have been disconnected as unregistered SIM.

I tired contacting 121 their customer care number but no response . I enquired about unregistered SIM to mobile shop owner wherefrom I have purchased, who was not helpful and told me to get back to 121.

I do not understand for what it is being disconnected.

I totally agree with airtelbasher. It is an absolute pity to see a company like Airtel 'Brand Mittal' ripping off comman man's money. Initially I too lodged a complaint at Airtel's 198 number & there was no SMS from their 3333 number for a couple of days, but then, Tweet-tweet-SMS, there comes another idiotic, tasteless joke from their 3333 number once again. Moreover, the message to unsubscribe the service (even though I never subscribed for this stupidity in the first place) never goes through to their 3333 number. I am throrughly fed up with their service & plan to take them on by approaching consumer court or filing an FIR for looting my money. Any ideas on how to end this absurdity, anyone?

I have had many unpleasant experiences with airtel's uncomprehending customer service, but this one takes the cake. Date: 7 August 2008. Customer hate representative: Jitender. Office: Okhla.

I put in the paperwork to switch from postpaid to prepaid on my Delhi number as I am moving cities; mysteriously, on the eve of my departure, I am told that my number will be disconnected for 48 complete hours. Has anyone else had such an experience, can someone tell me if I am being lied to or not?

I am a prepaid mobile connection holder of Airtel. I could never ever imagine a company like this could be become so hopeless in attending to customer complaints and even start harassing them with their third rate business development gimmicks.

1. I have been assigned a special Heloo tunes without any subscription what so ever from my end and they charge merrily as it is a prepaid connection.

2. The latest fraud is- when you dial any MTNL Landline no.- the Airtel mobile phone does not sound any ring and so, you do not know if you are connected, the line is connected but the recipient can not hear you. When you redial again thinking that the dialing failed, you find that your balance is already reduced- every time you try this. Surprisingly, it never happens when you dial Airel landline connection.

3. It seems companies like this irrespective of their status and size, do not hesitate to go for Cheap ways to increase their billing at the cost of common man

Disgusting. Will you care Mr Mittal?

I bought an Airtel Blackberry Pearl 8100 almost the very first week Airtel launched this model. The service was great and everything going very smooth until Jan '08, when I spoke to a customer Service Rep and was advised that even on the Blackberry 499/- data plan 100 MB of Data download was free. Since, my usage was not more than 100 MB over a period of 2 years I decided to switch from my original 899/- Unlimited plan to the 100 MB plan.

To my surprise I was shocked to get a hefty bill of Rs.14000/- for the next month! When I called customer support they now tell me that there is no 100 MB free with 499/- Plan. I requested the rep to raise a complaint as I changed my plan only after receiving confirmation from Airtel customer support is when I changed the plan. The rep took all details and gave me a ticket number. However, they dragged this issue for 2 months, after which I escalated to "nodal officer" and they came back to tell me that they never had any calls where their rep informed me of the 100 MB free data on 499/- Plan and also that the call records no longer exists and that the Bill was valid and I have to end up paying!

I'm still disputing this issue and they have canceled my connection. The worst part is that I cannot use my Blackberry with any other service provider as the device is SIM locked and these Airtel employees are very rude once you are not a customer to them.

IF someone has gone thru the same issue and found someone at Airtel who could help resolve, please share with me.

I, Seema Chikkanna bearing an airtel connection # [protected] would like to inform you that the service now a days has drastically dropped. I have been using this connection since 8 yrs approx. Following are my concerns:
1.Payment updation- Even after the payment is being made the SMS is not received immediately. Its not updates for days together, But regular bugging messages from your end keeps coming to make the payments. When you can provide a receipt for a landline bill why not for a post paid?
2.Complaining the customer care- When one calls the customer care, they ask you for some receipt no after the payments. How a customer is supposed to give that when he has not received any SMS? Having complained to your so called your floor manager, she said she would be getting in touch with me, but never received a call back.
3.Billing not updated- My bill as on 18th Aug 08 was Rs. 763.00 and on 19th Aug 08 it was Rs.934.88. How is it possible that in just a days time my bill runs upto Rs.171.88?
4.Internet updation- My detail billing is not updated on the internet. How am I supposed to cross check?
5.Rude caller- There are few calls received by you people where the ladies are really rude. They are not even bothered listen to the customers. They have slamed the phone many a times..

Now, let me ask you this, will you be able to solve these problems, or should we look for any other option? Its really been frustrating and annoying with such sort of service. As the company is growing, looks like the service is getting really really pathetic. Pathetic is not the word!

I am using airtel service from last 2 years, I am frustrated by airtel hello tunes service... It changes automatically without giving any request.. It is happened 2nd time to me... everytime i call to airtel customer care, they say I have requested to change hello tune through SMS, They say based upon their record and indeed i haven't have done anything from my mobile to change hello tune... I don't understand where should i go to complaint for... IS THERE ANY ONE WHO CAN HELP ME or SHOULD I SIMPLY DISCONNECT THIS AIRTEL? I have decided to file FIR against airtel as it happens twice and don't know in future how many times such things will occur. I have lost money for changing it again and again... It is my humble request to you that please make your customer care system proper and tell them to behave in manner also if you don't have good software system to track users hello tune and its request then BUY a good one... your executive says I have requested to change and I am saying i haven't requested to change, now where would i go to prove that i have not explicitly change my hello tune...

If you are not able to provide hello tune service properly then just SHUT it OFF...

Thanks,
Prakash.

I am very disappointed by the service offered by Airtel and the worst is that no body is there to listen, all gives you the false statements. I have converted from postpaid to prepaid on 09/08/2008 by submitting all valid documents to Kiran Marketting, Borivali (W), Mumbai India. Which is authorized Airtel Gallery in our area. This gallery always remains full of people, They create their own rules for managing people, Created their own time slot for every service handling.

Card took 3 days to activate after my continued follow up.

On 21/08/2008, my outgoing is barred by giving message submit your document! I am surprised to know that my document given earlier has not reached to airtel. On calling helpline for 20 times, They suggested me to go to dealer and re-submit the document. WHY RE-SUBMIT? What happened to my earlier submission? Why they make customer move around to activate their numbers? Now, I have full balance of Rs.650/- on my account with my outgoing barred. My home is at stone throw away from airtel gallery, We have airtel tower on top of our building. Why they take so long to verify myself?

I am repenting to be an airtel customer.

Can any one help?

I have been harassed by Airtel hired advocate to pay for some bill which was already in question with its department and i was been always told that they will get back to me. Instead they made him call me on my number in Australia and he threatened me for nothing.

What is my fault? My loyalty and trust in this brand for more than 9 years? I trusted this brand to solve my problem as i was being billed for something when i was not even using that number as i was here in Australia...

Nobody got back to me... but their advocate.

I would like to bring in your notice of illegally debiting money a sum of Rs. 30/- from my prepaid number by sending message for the services that I haven’t used from the phone. I received two messages from num [protected] from airtel your subscription to the on demand service has been renewed (30 Rs, 30 days, 30 Mins free), one on 26.7.2008 and another on 24.8.2008.
