National Tire & Battery [NTB] To be refunded the money I lost!

Good morning,

In May of 2021, I brought my vehicle to NTB in Petersburg Virginia to have a repair done. In the process of repairing my vehicle the mechanic decided to use an after market piece as a replacement and the after market piece caused other problems to my electrical system.

For several months I've been in contact with a rep by the name of Ivan Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez initially stated that he was sending me a 100.00 gift card for any inconvenience I had encountered. My conversations with Mr. Hernandez were vere concise and straight to the point. I was requesting a full refund.

Mr. Hernandez gathered all my information relevant to the remainder of my refund and on July 1, 2021. At that time Mr. Hernandez stated that the remainder of my refund was approved by his manager and that the check was in route (take about 14 days) for me to receive it.

After 3 weeks of waiting for a refund, I decided to contact Mr. Hernandez again on July 20, 2021. Mr. Hernandez supposedly went through the notes and appeared to be confused as to why I haven't received the refund (remainder of the refunded amount). He said he would further investigate and call me back later before the end of business on July 20, 2021.

July 20, 2021 has passed. So the next day I called and spoke with his supervisor Joe Giangiacomo. Mr. Giangiacomo advised me that Mr. Hernandez was not at work so therefore Mr. Hernandez was not available to have that conversation with me.

Mr. Hernandez took me on a wild goose chase appearing to process a refund that he knew I was not going to be receiving. He told me that the remainder of tje refund would be processed and sent on July 1, 2021 and it never was. I hold NTB totally responsible for the content and responses their employee stated to me.

I will not be returning to NTB for any future services. NTB has by far disappointed me in dealing with my situation. From the time I needed my car repaired to the time I'm writing this review. Poor customer service & deceptive practices!

It happened on 7/16/21 between 10:01 AM and 01:19 PM. Customer: [protected] Order Number: [protected] To change 4 spark plugs I was charged $248.58. The plugs provided were priced at 4X their market value ($38.33/spark plug so $153.32 for 4 plugs!!!) For a Hyundai, not a Bentley, this is really unacceptable since business like NTB buy parts with a discount...

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Racism

I wrote to you about 2 weeks ago about my son who is biracial and had just started working at the ntb on valley view blvd in roanoke va. He was being called [censored] I hate that word by a coworker off and on for 8 hours straight. He had never experienced anything like this before, I was told that corporate called that store and had the situation handled until today. Curtis one of the managers at the store called my son and told him once again he didn't need to come in to work today because larry the man with the racial slurs all day filed a complaint stating that my son said he was going to smack him or something like that so corporate is now investigating this situation. So I just want to make sure that i'm understanding this correctly before I call the virginia dept of labor and industry and report this situation. My son who is only 24 had endure for 8 hours being called a [censored], black boy, pushed away from the job he was working on, by this man if that's what you wanna call him, while 2 other coworkers laughed and thought it was funny, my son actually felt threatened and when he went to the manager he was told to adapt to the way this man talked to him. You must be crazy. No one should have to endure that kind of treatment at a place of employment. So as I understand that larry had said he wants my son terminated even though he is the one that put my son through some verbal abuse that day. So curtis told my son he would have to let him know what corporate decides to do about his employment there. This is a job he really liked. Scott the other manager is the one who had called my son and talked to him and told him that he should come back to work today, but then curtis calls him at 8 this morning with this story. Honestly if this is how you run your company it's really quite sad and pathetic. As I said before I call and report this racism to the dept of labor and industry I thought I would give you a chance to explain your actions to me. In today's world you can never be to careful or just brush off someone's racists comments because people are getting hurt behind these people and their ignorance. Today is monday july 12th, I hope this gets resolved before wednesday that's 48 hours. I just cannot believe a company as big as your company condones this type of behavior especially in 2021. I personally have no tolerance for any type of racism, being a mother i'm going to protect my child I don't care how old he is. And honestly if the corporate office is doing an investigation why would no one call my son? Hmm I wonder if this is just not serious to you people..

Desired outcome: A resolution and an email to myself and a phone call to my son and ask him what happened. My email is [protected]@yahoo.com and my sons name is Chonn and his phone number is [protected].

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tires and front end alignment

My husband got new truck tires and a front end alighnment and they did such a terrible job that after we took it back to redo the alighnment the truck quickly got really bad shacking on the front like the front tires were going to fly off. The truck could not be controled if it hit the least little bump in the road. And at one time before he completly stoped driving truck is because he almost lost his life when the truck went out of control on the highway and a simi came a hair from crashing into my husband. We had the truck towed to a shop that our friend recomended near troy ohio and 800.00 later the truck is fixed but the tires need replaced again thanks to someones carelessness ans not tightening up some bolts when they did front end alighnment and I believe they also did balljoints. But eaither way for 1500.00 bucks we got screwed by ntb and it could of cost my husband his life. Ntb carelessness could of caused a disaster ans I damn sure want our money back and four new tires or I will take you to court and sue you for tow bill pain and suffering and a lot more because the shop that fixed the truck said you all did not could of not even did a front end alighnment. And that there was all kinds of stuff left loose that caused all of these problems to my husbands truck. Also I have filed complaint with bbb and wrote a review about how you all almost killed my husband. My husband has lukimina and hardly ever drives his truck and he loved his truck and it has been nothing but a nightmare ever since he brought it to you. And I will seek justice ands write reviews everyday about this issue until it is resolved. The ntb on becthle ave in springfield is not a good service to be so careless they almost caused the death of a 65 year old vet. And someone needs to accept resoncibilty for this poor service! Thank you. Mrs. Brenda mann [protected]

Desired outcome: MONEY BACK AND NEW TIRES

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Workmanship and no respect

I had an appointment at 12:30 with tires purchased at NTB for rotation and balance. It took until closing to get my car back at 6pm. The car rides horrible and has vibration in the front tires. I brought it back and they said it will be 4-5 hours can you leave it...
Then the store manager said what did you expect when you just rotate the tires. I said I asked for rotate and balance that I paid for when I purchased the tires. Buyers beware NTB is not what they used to be. Horrible service and they do not care about the customer

Desired outcome: They need to respect customwrs

National Tire & Battery [NTB] No service even with a scheduled appointment?

I had a "scheduled appointment" for Saturday June 14th at 11:30am to have my tires purchased at NTB, rotated and balanced. I arrived at 11:15am to check in. At first I was told there no record of me in the system? After producing receipt of purchase, the NTB clerk found that my name had been entered incorrectly. After correcting, I was checked-in. At approx 11:45am I inquired when my car would be serviced, as it was still parked outside? I was informed by the desk person I was next up for service. At 12:25pm I left when it was apparent no one could tell me when I would receive service!
The manager(s) observed did not appear too interested in moving service along?

Desired outcome: NTB, Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tire service center

So, I had a tire emergency in Anderson, SC. I took my vehicle in for a new tire installation. I dropped the vehicle off for the service. Shortly after, I received a call from the store. My wheels have security.lugs on the rims and they needed the special socket to loosen the lug nuts. I told them it was either in the glove box or in the rear storage compartment. The store closes at 6pm and I received a call that it was ready around 5:45. I went to pick the vehicle up, was rushed out because it was bordering on 6pm. I paid for the service and proceeding to leave. I stopped for shopping and as I was closing my vehicle up, I noticed something. What I noticed was black grease all over the inside of my beige leather interior...drivers seat, passenger seat, glove box front, arm rests, carpet and door handles...I immediately called the store. The employee just told me to get it detailed and they would cover it, that he didn't have time to deal with it...a somewhat nice gesture but I have kept the interior of this car in near mint condition for the five years I have owned it. I have been assured by a professional detailer that while the grease will probably come off the leather, the stitching will be permanently stained. This is far from over with NTB. If you live in the Anderson area, please beware...

Desired outcome: Upholstery replaced, other affected areas cleaned

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Tire Service

After returning from an out-of-town trip, my car gave me a signal that my tire pressure was low. Thinking that it was due to the road trip, I just had the tires pumped up to normal pressure. When the pressure gauge continued to light up, I knew that the problem was more significant. On June 4th, I took my 2019 Acura RDX to the NTB store located at 5809 Nolensville Road, Nashville, TN where I have an account. After explaining about the tire pressure alert, I asked them to check my tires, to help determine if there was a nail in the tire. After an hour and a half, the attendant returned to tell me that there was a nail in my tire and that it could not be repaired since the puncture was in the side of the tire. I asked if they had my tire in stock and was told that it would need to be ordered. I thanked them and said I would contact my dealership to see if they had my tire in stock. Turns out the tire also had to be ordered by my dealership so I made an appointment to have the tire replaced there on Tuesday, June 8th.

When I returned home, I found that NTB neglected to replace the valve cap on my tire which I reported to them. I was very disappointed that the representative I spoke to made no effort to right the wrong of their negligence other than to tell me to drive all the way back there to retrieve the cap. Instead of making this 16 mile journey back to the store, I went to a nearby auto store to purchase a set of valve caps.
On June 8th, I went to my dealership to have my tire replaced. I was told that there was a screw in the tread of the tire on the rear passenger side. They were able to patch it at no charge. Documentation of this service record can be provided, if requested.

I was immediately hurt and outraged to learn that I had been lied to by the NTB attendant. I was also grateful that they did not have my tire in stock because I would have purchased it ($200+ expense) and had it mounted right away.

As a 70-year-old widow, whose husband always took care of things like this, I was left disenchanted and distrustful by this experience. The integrity of this store is now maligned and I am no longer able to trust whether or not I am being told the truth. In 2020, I purchased a set of tires for my other vehicle at the Nolensville Road NTB and would like to know if the complementary periodic tire rotation/balance service would be honored at another store. Hopefully, the integrity of the staff at another location will be better.
I look forward to your reply.

Desired outcome: An apology and assurance that this type of treatment will not reoccur.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Replacement of warranty battery

I had my Honda Pilot serviced at Honda Tomball and was told I had a bad battery. Since the battery was less than two years old, I went back to the NTB in Tomball (38761) for them to check it and replace if necessary. After waiting for twenty minutes for someone and explaining what I was told where I had the maintenance done, my care was driven back. After less than 5 minutes, I was told that the battery was defective and it would be replaced under the warranty and would not cost anything. However there would be a $111.00 labor charge to replace the battery. After I questioned the amount, I was told it was complicated to replace. I paid the $111.00 and the technician went back to put a new battery in. Less than 10 minutes later, my car was ready. $111.00 seem to be unusually high for less than 10 minutes work. I have bought tires and batteries at NTB for years, but I'll think seriously before I buy at NTB again.

I can't get my scanner to work to send the invoice. The order number is [protected] dated 5/21/2021, Customer No. is [protected]. There is also another number on the invoice-TXR000065771.

My correct address and phone number is: ROY B. WALTON
17202 DE CHIRICO CIRCLE
SPRING, TEXAS 77379
EMAIL - roy.[protected]@hotmail.com
Phone No..- 346.246.5981

Desired outcome: If this is a routine charge, then ok and I wont do business with NTB any more. If the charge is a way to gouge elderly customers, then I would like a refund.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Oil change

You guys lost a customer for life today. On May 10, 2021 I had an appointment for an oil change at your Dale City, Va. location for 12:30 PM. At 2:20PM I inquired about why it had not been taken into the shop. 2 hours after the appointment was scheduled and they hadn't started on it. Why do we even bother with scheduling an appointment? I don't have all day for an oil change! Never again!

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Didn't fix my problem

On or about the middle of April I took my 2006 Chevy Equinox to one of your locations located at 1909 East Joppa Road Parkville Md 21234 took to see what was causing my truck's battery to drain when it was off. I was told that I needed a new battery, a flush, tune up, belts replaced and windshield wiper blades. The tech also told that the molding on my door was also part of the problem. The next day after getting the work done I had the same problem and had to take it back up there for the same problem still I was be being told that it was the door . I took care of the door problem and the problem happened again. So I got a jump start and I took my truck to Auto Zone to get my battery and alternator check they passed . So finally I contacted your other location at 1705 York Road Lutherville Maryland 21030 and they fixed the problem . I paid over $1300 the first time and had to pay $429 the last time for the same problem. This problem could have been fixed if the tech at the first location had taken the time to really search for the problem. Invoice # is [protected] /4-20-21/9:18 am

Desired outcome: I would like to be refunded the $429 that I paid or apply it to my credit card bill with NTB

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Customer service after I scheduled online

I have just had the worst experience I have ever had at this location. I was met by a gentleman at the register who seemed annoyed by me as soon as I walked in the door. He kept huffing and puffing and stating how many cars are ahead of me. I told him I made the appointment online. He asked me what the service was. I informed him that it was tire replacement. He asked for the keys and went out to check my car. I didn't know what to do at that point because I was not instructed to wait or that he would be back or anything. I then went outside to wait. He came out to me and said "How am I supposed to know what tires you want." I informed him that I did not know I was supposed to wait inside because I was not told anything. He kept talking as if I was a child. I asked one of the other customers if he was that rude to her and she stated that she did not have him help her. I requested someone else to help me. There was a lady who seemed nicer who tried to assist me but with the way I was spoken to and how I felt targeting from the time I walked in I had just decided to take my business else where. I am doing this complaint because I do not feel it is right for anyone to feel like I felt when entering a business where we are paying for a service. No matter how hard the day might have been. He could have even offered me to reschedule and I would have excepted but I was totally let down by this company and all that I thought it stood for.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] tire rotation/balance/slow leak

I needed a rotate and balance on a set of Michelins I bought there a couple of years ago. Told them one had a slow leak. Have about 4000 miles on them. After an hour of waiting the guy says he can't rotate or balance because the leak was in the sidewall and immediately tried to quote me new tires. The "mechanic" told me it was small and he had to use soap water to find the leak. Got home and noticed the tires had no signs of being sprayed with soap water. Took my truck somewhere else the next day. They found the leak in 30 seconds. It was in the top of the tread. The "mechanic apparently never even looked for the leak. He also filled all the tires to 42 psi even after I told him to leave them at 36psi where I had them. The manager Bill Burris and "mechanic" Richard both lied about the leak to sell me new tires to replace the new tires I already had. Dirty, dishonest thieves. These guys need to be fired now! They give the business a bad name. NTB and integrity are no longer related.

Desired outcome: Keep NTB honest, terminate these employees.

National Tire & Battery [NTB] Brake fluid flush rip off

I paid for an oil change and a brake fluid flush. when I picked up the car, I had the mechanic put the car on the lift to fix a heat shield. I took pictures of the brake caliper bleeder valves that showed no sign of any brake bleeding work. The dust was not disturbed on the bleeder cap, no sign of work on the bleeder valve nut. Not a drop of spilled brake fluid. I asked the mechanic why there was no sign of any work done to the bleeder valves. He said that the tools he used has a hose that fits over the bleeder valve and there is no brake fluid that spills; but he could not find the equipment that he supposedly just used on my car. I think I was ripped off for $90 for a brake job that was not done.
