poor service
I would like to express my disappointment about the poor service I received at Shoprite Montclair. The cashier whom I didn't get a chance to know her name because she was not wearing a badge disrespected me. She gave me an attitude after I have asked her to pay for my groceries separately. She said " Don't pay with R200 notes because I know you customer like to pay with big notes so early in the morning, I don't know where you think we get change from!"... I kept quiet as i was in disbelief and paid for my stuff and left...
poor customer service
On Saturday 06/09/2018 I was in the area of the store near Getty Square Yonkers @ about 5pm so I decided to stop in and pick up a few things. I picked up 20 items and inadvertently go on the 15 items of less items register 5. Now the reason it was 20 items was because I had picked up 4 different flavors of Ice cream. When i was placing my items the cashier said that the line was for 15 items or less and it would not be fair to anyone on line. I looked behind me and there was only one person. I offered the person to go ahead of me and the kind lady said it was alright. The cashier very rudely would not take care of me and insisted that it would not be fare to anyone. Instead of leaving my cart and walking out of the store. I placed my items back in my cart and moved to another line. That is why I dont usually shop at Shoprite and much prefer shopping at Stop and Shop. Shoprite hires young kids that have no service experience.

last week Wednesday i went to shoprite main street to get few items for my kid. i stood on the line for more than 10 mins.and when i finally got to the till a Girl By the name Sinazo on the basket tills refused to serve me, she folded her arms and started giving me attitude. then she ask me, cant you count or cant you see this is a basket line. tyoo was very shocked, then when i asked her to talk in good manner with me me, she went on mxxm mxxm. and continued to fold her arms until one colored lady which i think is a supervisor came and assisted me her self, cause Sinazo the till operator was starting to throw the goods into the plastic bag..as she was now forced to help me.
i have always known shoprite for bad service but that one was the first and the last . if This Sinazo girl would not even obey her superiors then, then she ill continue to paint bad Shoprites Name . Shoprite is a very well known retail .. and does not need bad reviews like this. am disappointed and very sad .. and would highly appreciate if you could do a follow up on this matter.

Only a few cash tills are operating today and being month end.There are no express tills open and there are long queus of people some with big trolleys and I had to stand in I queue to be served for a few items.I requested to see and speak to a Manager and a Karen who is the Manageress at the store who was unpleasantly rude say well it's their procedure.Are they providing stinking Service because this a a black Community their are Servicing and to them .I advised Karen that I will report and complain about this matter and tif nothing comes out of this I will report to HelloPeter as well about this incidence

I am complaining about a bad service I was given at shoprite.
The cashier Phumudzo at Lephalale/Ellisras she has a bad customer service.
Today sunday the 27th of May at around 13:10 Phumudzo was giving me a bad attitude and as i was observing her ringing my groceries and putting them on the floor. Because she could put them in the plastic bags for some reasons that only known by her.
I complained about putting my groceries on the floor but what she was interested in was that i should just pay. i then told her I'm not happy with her service. "ringing my grocery, put it on the floor and when i try to talk to her, she could not even said a word.
i then requested to see the manager and that is when she started pushing all my groceries aroung and packing them in the plastic bags.
I was so hurt that i even shed a tear, what sadden me is that Phumudzo did not show any remorse in her actions.
We had a discussion with the manager and she was given a verbal warning.
I will never ever in my life use Shoprite the service is extremely bad.
My goodness Checkers does have a lot of complaints! I am about to add to the list - but also with a remedy - its called 'Staff training'. Do yo have any? Whilst inevitably any large organisation will have its problems, it would be nice if your staff would apologise on behalf of its employer when things go wrong, but they NEVER do. Yesterday I spent around 2 hours traipsing back and forth to Checkers, Bayside over a problem wit air time. I was treated as a being mistaken or a liar and certainly as a nuisance by Maleka Fataar (spelling?) and only received my cash back after 3 visits to the store - - no apology for inconvenience etc). Train your staff an d you'll have happy (and more) customers.

Bought a boerewors roll at ShopRite Bothasig. The boerewors was sour, smelling and had white work inside that look like they work fried (dead inside sausage).
I feel nauseous after eating a piece.
The manager (W Busby) and staff that assisted with the return was unapologetic except for the girl that fries the boerewors.
They admitted that the sausages were from the previous day that they reheated. I am sure that it didn't come out of a fridge.

This Complaint is to Whomever Has the Power to Change the Problem of the Deceptive Wording on the Packaging of this product, specifically: "without excluded food processing methods..." The problem is, you make it sound at first glance that this product was not made using these methods; where in reality of the words true meaning, these methods were not excluded from processing of this product. While you may argue these are so called approved methods, I and many others do not find these methods safe or healthy and do not want to purchase products that use such methods. Therefore, you should be Clearly Stating if such methods Were used or that this product has GMOS in it and Not try to Deceive consumers into thinking this product is non-GMO and organic. Also, All your products should be clearly labeled like your frozen vegetables which are not! Now I have to throw out these quick oats and the frozen vegetables my husband innocently bought and didn't keep a receipt for and I, nobody can afford to through away money but you are by using these methods which will turn away customers like Me! Now, I'm not writing for a refund, but rather, for a real change in the way this company handles this problem of using deceptive wording and undesirable GMOS and/or undesirable processing methods. The fate of your company ultimately rests upon the.. Consumer: If you don't give us what we want we will buy someone else's products. So you should think: what's important to us the consumer should be important to YOU too...

Let me clarify what I mean about the ingredients and processing methods of the frozen vegetables mentioned above and of all other food products made by the company in general; which is of great concern to many consumers like me. We want the whole truth.. clearly stated.. with no deceptive wording and no hidden information! Why! Because, We the People, the Consumer, have the Right to Choose, what we eat and feed our families. Many companies including Shoprite, produce many foods that still don't have packaging that is clearly labeled.. if they have GMOS that are included in the products or processing methods, like the frozen vegetables I mentioned above. So, what I can do and what I now do.. about this problem, is: If a product doesn't clearly state that it is organic and non-GMO.. I assume that it is possibly GMO and non organic and.. I don't buy it. If product says partially genetically engineered.. I don't buy it. If deceptive wording isn't clear or fine print in different areas of the packaging state contrary information as to the ingredients being free of gmo's and organic.. I don't buy it. Shoprite.. please give me, the consumer, what I need in my products, or.. I, the consumer, will have to buy products from another company, who will give me what I need to live a healthier life. A Question: Shoprite, how many customers can your company afford to lose over this GMO issue, when the consumption of non-GMO products.. is Only going to Increase and as GMO labeling is destined to be Mandatory or even Banned in the future.. for the improved health of all people in general..? It's definitely an important issue of health close to my heart and a growing multitude of consumers that will change the future of the foods we eat...
money market fraud
On the 04/05/2018 I went to deposit R 3000 at Shoprite Checkers for my sister who stays in Uitenhage in Pier 14 - Port Elizabeth. Branch Till: 6276 on Till: 98 - Cashier 105 with Receipt no: 32. The time on the slip reads 10:49 am. The time I was depositing the money, there was something odd the cashier did and at the time I did not think much of it, she made me punch in my pin 3 times instead of twice, the first time she said something is not visible on the slip so I have to put in the pin again. On the next day when my sister went to collect the money in Uitenhage she was told someone already withdrew the money on the on the 4th, however, they could not give the details and told her that the person who deposited must go and find out. I went to Shoprite at Kenako Mall to make an inquiry, I was shown on the system that a male named: Simphiwe Michael Sibhozo withdrew the money on the 04/05/2018 at 11:40 am from Shoprite at Bethelsdorp. I was advised to open a case which I did at Mount Road Police station on the 05/05/2018, case no: CAS 93/5/2018. The detective in charge of my case informed me that upon her investigation there is a similar incident that occurred at Shoprite Pier 14 where the same male withdrew money amounting to R5000 at Kenako Mall - this was seen in a footage. Iwent back to Shoprite at Pier 14 on the 7th where I asked to speak to the supervisor who told me she cannot show me the footage but sees nothing odd on it when she looks at it. This does not give me hope that someone is attending to my matter or even willing to resolve it. I would like to request a FULL refund of the money I deposited, clearly Shoprite at Pier 14 is running a money scam ring - I would like to make sure no one is scammed this way ever again by the tellers who we entrust we our monies.
refusal of sales
Today at 10h45 I entered the store to bought 70 mothers day cups to celebrate the occasion at our church. Manager Nathan Whitebooi refused the sale. His reason for refusal and I quote "I'm the manager and can make decisions on how much of a product a customer can buy." I refused to accept this. He informed that I'm allowed for only 2 cups. My right as a customer are violated by this manager.

I went to sebokeng plaza shoprite count to leave my clothes the lady from the shoprite count advice me to take my clothes with me after I purchase at shoprite at door security fight me asking who authorised those plastics I tried to explain he's started to fight and swearing and pointing fingers at me no supervisor or manage want to take charge the only people who help out was customer's I will never ever shop at shoprite they really need training all of them and I hate it
bad, embarrassing and humiliating shopping experience
I've just received an embarrassing and humiliating service at Shoprite Checkers Golden Walk Mall in Germiston, I was treated like a thief after paying for the items I had bought. My only would be suspicion as a thief by your security camera official Phumzile Nene was fitting a jacket that you guys displayed in your clothes section for us consumers to notice it and probably make a purchase. So after they've realized the error was on their side they just wanted me to leave without any recourse, so I politely caused a "rau-rau" (pls ask a friend what a "rau-rau" is) like a "clever black" person and demanded my money back for the items I had already bought and paid for, as I felt Shoprite no longer deserves my hard earned money from a so called "thief" and proceeded to Pick n Pay just a few meters up from their store. Please train your staff to apprehend would be suspects with facts, not with allegations ! but I guess Shoprite Germiston will survive by loosing me as a customer, after all its only one customer mos, it wont change their bottom line, it would be just a drop in the ocean. please if you decide to take this post seriously by taking action, do not be punitive to your staff, but rather be proactive by providing more workshop and education in fact finding and treating consumers with respect and stop judging black consumers by how they are dressed up, as for me, adios amigo Shoprite, hello Pick n Pay. (NB:a friend asked, what was I doing at Shoprite in any case, it got me wondering)

Please note on the 12 april 2018 I went to the shop to purchase party packs and only on the 15th the sunday I noticed that the pack of fizz sweets of which I had bought 2 packets were expired last year already in december and my concern is that it shows no stock taking was done since 2017? And the sad part is that I had given the sweets to the kids.

bakery and customer service department
Today is 4/18/18 and I was looking online to hopefully find a cake I've been looking for. Unfortunately, the cake wasn't posted online on the website which is to no surprise.. Mostly all of the cakes are not online. So, I decided to call the store instead of chancing it that the store will have it tomorrow and wasting my time. I call, the automated system prompted me with the department listing and I selected 4 for the Bakery.. No answer. I tried 4 more times and no answer. I then thought, why not try to contact the customer service/floor manager for assistance.. When I tried, no answer. I tried 4 more times and no answer! Now, I'm livid! I'm at work trying to make sure a cake is there for my job and I can't even get the manager/customer service/bakery department on the floor. I then decided to try the Bakery Department again.. No answer. I said I'm going to keep calling them until someone answers.. and then finally after the 4th time again.. A guy answers. I asked him if they still had any carrot cakes in the store. He said hold on.. He will go and check. He came back on the phone and said yes. I asked him if I can schedule one for a pick-up tomorrow (4/19/2018), he said yes. Then there was an awkward silence as I'm waiting for him to ask me for my pickup information. He then says, breaking the silence, so tomorrow pickup, I said yes. He then says okay you're all set. Now, I am all confused. How does he know who is coming to pickup? He never took any of my information.. not even a phone number nor name. The only reason I called is because I always purchase cakes monthly from ShopRite and sometimes, they don't have this cake out and if they do, it's not always a full size cake. I am a faithful/loyal customer to this Bakery and the store itself and the customer service is RIDICULOUS! Literally on my top 3 for worst customer service! This has to change.. or I will take my business elsewhere. Customers don't deserve bad service. Just to remind you, I was only asking to place a pickup for one cake and when through all of this. This took up way too much of my time and I work at the front desk of a global company to play games on the phone. FYI.. The store address is 13 City Place, White Plains, NY 10601.

I was at shoprite kraaifontein and I must say the service was actually disgusting.I did not mind standing in the queue and I understand that it was month end and sassa and easter Sunday but if I am standing in the express queue for 10 items or less and a person with a full trolley is infront of me and I complain by the cashier and they just look at me like I am insane then I have a problem. When I get to the cashier and one of my items does not have a barcode she asks someone to get her a barcode but that person takes 30min and another person has to go and comes back to tell me that the price is not the same and still has no barcode and I asked the cashier Thobeka if the controller can't override the price I don't mind paying I just don't want to hold the queue up but the cashier gives me an attitude until I get on my phone to make a call and say I am going to lay a complaint then she calls the front end controller Bongiwe but mind you they still have a conversation in xhosa and says I am being a typical coloured until I told them just leave the juice so that I could go and spare them my typical coloured attitude but I will lay a complaint.I also work with clients and there for I understand the pressure but we must also give excellent service no matter where you work or who the client is do not judge a client by how they look. Shoprite does have low prices but that does not mean the service must be disgusting I am really disappointed and I don't think clients should be treated like that
racist manager
The coloured manager at your shoprite branch is a racist [censor]! I also DON'T appreciate people trying to ram the religion down my throat either! I was looking through the marked down vegetables in the trolley when a coloured woman asked me if she could come past and at the same time this coloured man as well asked so I slightly moved for them to come past only for them to push me out of position from the trolley so they could scratch! So I told them they rude to push me out the way when they see I'm busy in the trolley. They both argued with me that they didn't push! e out of the way to which a little argument broke out and telling me they must pray for me! I then told them OK, its OK but this man kept on and was looking for an audience so I told him to shut the F up and I'm not interested in them forcing their Christianity on me and he kept on until this racist manager came to check me as if I was the one who started it! I will next time F her up if she meddles with her racist [censor] in what didn't concern her! The shop always never has stock of something when you go there instead of her doing her damn work!

My day started very well but when I have chosen to shop at Eloff street Shoprite it felt like a wrong choice, 17/01/18 at approximately 13:30 I entered Shoprite, with parcels at parcel counter the lady complained about her medical operations and so forth, I brushed it aside as I didn't want spoiling my mood by her attitude.
2 and half hours later I emerged with 2 big trolleys from underground floor 1 full and other just a quarter, we got to the cashier who was as pleasant and respectful, when she first started scanning our items she asked one of the staff to assist with packing she was ignored and eyed badly, later she asked a Mr that looked like a supervisor who without any authority asked the other lady to assist she told him that she is busy and hungry.meanwhile our cashier was very apologetic
It's sad in this day in age to meet such poor service and profiling of any kind, and I'm a long time customer buying from sister Shoprite liquor store where staff is generally friendly and mean business despite pressures of December holidays they remain positive and patient
Please do something about the attitude of that Shoprite it's bad for your brand and objectives

I cannot understand why your company with its powerful purchasing power and in conjunction with other food chains cannot bring pressure to bear on all egg producers not only to upgrade the standard of their products both in respect of the hardness of the shells - insufficient calcium/magnesium in the diet, no doubt!- and the nutritional value of the egg itself.
I know that this is an industry wide problem which needs to be tackled head on by your industry which can bring about change if the will to do so is brought to bear by all the chains in concert.
The final straw in this long ongoing problem was when I bought white jumbo eggs at Checkers Greenside within the last week.As usual, the shells were fragile but the egg yokes themselves were so light in colour as to make them both unappetizing to look at or to eat, hence my query as to the nutritional value.No wonder Woolies sells free range eggs;there must be a reason! Cost ?Sure, but lets have the option as, otherwise more discerning clients will make other purchases as well from the likes of Woolies! Good marketing!For the record, the eggs were supplied by Northwinds Estates, Heidelberg.
Although not of immediate relevance but related, is the whole ethical question of the manner in which the egg industry produces eggs which is a subject all on its own!

had me and other customers standing by que for more than 3 hours to [purchase tickets for event that was held a huntersfield for kids(kids festival) they had problems with their systems and failed to informed us until we had asked for a manager to come resolved the issue even while we still there we had a number of complains from customers saying cashiers and other shoprite employees have attitute and poor service, my take is that store has a really problem with service I dont think they know what they there for.. to save customers and adhere to their company values...or may poor services is one of their values..i am done with that store I will NEVER set my foot into that store again they just dont have any idea what they doing peace...

good day i was ill treated by shoprite liquor shop Northam limpopo on the 5th December 2017 please give attention to the whole staff because they are very rude and also don't care about their customers.i wanted to buy johnnie walker gold label reserve blended scotch whisky that is on sale from 04 December 2017 until 17 December 2017 and they told me that the is no sale at their liquor shop and i even call the trainee manager and he also told me so.i was very angry and dissapointed
major complaint against your employee at shoprite sophiatown
For the kind attention of Senior Management at Head Office, on Friday the 10th November 2017, your supervisor by the name of "Yvette" (coloured lady)...was highly unprofessional in her manner, i was standing at your lotto counter with my bag on the counter and another intoxicated customer standing next to me asked me to move my bag (it was in nobodys' way and not harming anybody) - the next thing he knocked my bag plus all its' personal contents' to the ground, so i said to the intoxicated man that i am going to give him a "slap"...the next thing this "Yvette" waltzed up to me (not knowing the circumstances' as to what had happened and said to me in my face shouting at me infront of 2 witnesses' how can i say that to her customer (not bearing in mind that i to am a loyal customer to Shoprite)...next thing she tells' security to remove me from your store...this intimidation, harassment and deformation via "Yvette" has been going on since last year 2016 December...it all started when i made a mistake of not being in the right state of mind at that time period in my life when i had shoplifted 3 christmas tree decorations'...i was locked up...i confess i did the time for the crime and was traumatized beyond recognition after my case was thrown out of court...after a month of therapy, i went back to your Shoprite Sophiatown where the "mistake" from my side took place and appologised to your senior lady manager at the time, Sis Joyce and Ma Mavis (whom is no longer with us, she passed away)...when i went in to buy groceries' this "Yvette" came up to me and asked "have you come here to steal again"...the Manager at the time overheard this and took "Yvette" into her office (obviusly for a verbal warning) - i made a mistake once and ever since then this employee of yours' has been intimidating, harrasing and deformation of character whenever she (Yvette) has that opportunity...she is a malicious and viscious employee whom does not carry your Shoprite integrity well, i have spoken to my Lawyer and was advised to contact you being Head Office first...if nothing gets' done about the above stipulated employee, i will be forced to open up a case of intimidation, harrasment and deformation of character against her (Yvette)...this has been going on for far to long...Kindest gratitude Trace Antill...my email [protected]@vodamail.co.za...my contact no. falsely accused of shoplifting
Good day.
I tried calling but lines are busy. Yesterday 8/11/[protected]@ 16:25 I was purchasing some items at shoprite rustenburg 7141.
As I was about to exit the store a rude security guard, was not even sure if he was a security guard because he had no identification., ask me escort him to office. I was not sure what it was all about and followed him. On our way to office he told me to admit or I will be in trouble. Still shocked about the incident I ask him what I should I admit to.
As we enter a small room a lady started to search me., asking her what she was searching for she told me she aint sure.
After finding nothing on me the rude security guard showed a mitchum box, telling me he saw me put the content in my pocket at cashier. I told him nothing has been found on me and they can check the cameras, which offcourse was never viewed.
I was so furious and insisted to sspeak to manager, whereas I explained the situation. Manager obviously apologised but im afraid a apology aint exceptable after the humiliation I adured.
I shop at shoprite on a regular basis, and never ever was I so humiliated. They where suppose to make sure of their facts before threatening me.
I hope my message reach the relevant person and who is willling to take my claim serious. If not within 2 days I am left with no other option to take this matter further.
