Giant Eagle Pre-package raw chicken in meat department

Giant Eagle as an established grocery store chain has built its past success by a business model that offered its customers high quality foods, reasonably priced with exceptional customer service.

Though this has changed and appears to be going in the wrong direction in multiple regards.

If you buy pre-packaged raw chicken in the Giant Eagle meat department, for instance chicken thighs, Giant Eagle's supplier puts excessive amounts of additional chicken skin far more than what could possibly be found on a chicken thigh and they pack his extra chicken under each chicken thigh piece. This is an obvious effort in increasing the weight of each package while offering only waste chicken skin and not actual edible chicken thigh meat. If you buy a "Family Pack" of raw pre-packaged chicken thighs offered at a volume discount, then the amount of waste chicken skin also increases dramatically. Also, on the bottom of the larger "Family Pack" chicken thighs is a very large thick pad with added liquid which significantly changes the weight of the package with again something other than chicken thigh meat.

When bringing this to Giant Eagle management's attention they excuse this practice as being out of their control as they do not process their Giant Eagle brand chicken, they use a different supplier.

This should be unlawful. Nothing on the package indicates the added chicken skin hidden underneath each piece, nor any mention of the significant amount of liquid added in the absorbent pad below.

Desired outcome: Have Giant Eagle Management address this issue responsibly and lawfully.

Giant Eagle Full sheet cake in the bakery

I am shocked and disappointed in the cost increase for full sheet cakes. They raised the price close to Easter and then today May 1st there was an $8 increase. I called around and Giant Eagle is the most by far. The quality is very good at Giant Eagle but the price is outrageous. This will be the last time I deal with G.E. Makes me sad but the price is not reasonable.

Giant Eagle Stores in general

Giant Eagle in general has gone seriously downhill.

Went to Butler PA store a few weeks ago. Last time ever. One register open with a huge line. Only 2 self checkouts. Picked up GE boneless skinless chicken breasts that were under a sign that said GE boneless skinless chicken breasts BOGO. Did not adjust the price so went to customer service. Person there said the package had to have a BOGO sticker on it. I don’t work at GE so how was I supposed to know that?

Tonight went to Get Go in Cranberry Township PA. No hot coffee options from the barista, only frozen. Machine only brewed 3/4 a cup of chai tea. Told the person behind the counter (no registers open, only self checkout). Said that’s what the machine is set to brew. Get a 16 oz for the 20 oz price.

Desired outcome: Never to go back to a Giant Eagle store or a Get Go. Go out of my way if necessary for a Sheetz store.

Giant Eagle GAS. Regarding using your PERKS for a free tank of GAS

I am one of you best patrons; I spend hundreds and hundreds of Dollars at Giant Eagle. I look forward to my perks and using them when I can get a full tank of gas...which I have been doing for years. Recently it has been a hassle and very annoying and difficult to swipe your card at the pump and get your free gas and just go.. Either the employees/attendants don't understand because they make big issues of either money up front or "How much gas". I tell them it stops when the tank is full. Please look into this matter because I am not alone on this issue, and this is why many of your customers shop at Giant Eagle. Thank-you; Sincerely Rosemary Hiler

Giant Eagle Weekly mail circular being discintinued

Why am I going to have to go to to your store to get my weekly special circular? It's a stupid idea to stop the weekly mailers. You will lose me and many others who despise having to use pc, etc to see your weekly special info. I don't want to have to own a 500.00 phone with a tiny little screen that doesn't show squat. And who in the hell can even see tiny print on the smartphone. Can you imagine what I think you can do with this lousy idea?!

Giant Eagle No lottery pay out

Get go in Washington PA on Wylie ave..

I got a scratch off and wanted to cash it in... the guy behind counter said to scan it on the machine and bring paper to him... that was no problem. I realize that's how it works. When it didn't scan after many attempts I took it to the guy and he told me they don't cash out scratch offs and didn't scan it himself... just shrugged his shoulders and said there wasn't anything he could do about it. The other guy behind counter was rude also. Other customers heard this and couldn't believe it either

Giant Eagle Bakery

I placed an online order for a cake at your location in cleveland on Chagrin rd. My cake was accepted the morning of however it was never prepared and I was left cakeless on my daughter's birthday. No one seemed to care about the mistake made in the store. I just don't understand how this could happen. When I arrived there were signs on the bakery saying it was closed due to short staff.. so I went to customer service where I found another sign saying the same message... so I had to track down the "team lead" Sherri who was nonchalant and had someone meet me in the bakery.. this person was nice however they were not able to find/ prepare my cake and gave me a smaller and much different cake than I had ordered it was dry and seemed like it had been siting in the case for awhile. I was so upset after spending almost an hour in the store I just wanted to leave. I didn't make a big deal out of it but when I left I just can't understand how you offer a service for a cake and when I think I'm getting said cake it's not there... very disappointed and so was my daughter who had to have a plain cake with roses on it instead of a birthday we had picked and made online definitely a damper on her party. How can you prevent this from happening in the future. We never got an apology or anything. Very sad.

Giant Eagle Worms in a head of letters and black dirt throughout the greens

I had purchased a head of lettuce only to bring it home and opened it to find that it was covered to the core with black moldy looking dirt. Disgusted I found a grey looking mealworm. The quality control of your produce does not exceed healthy expectations by your customers. Cross contamination can and does happen. Please in the future check your produce before just tossing it carelessly on the shelf. I myself do not expect compensation back but for sake of others health this was unacceptable by any means! Highly disappointed!

Giant Eagle Pharmacist behavior and appearance

This pharmacist at Giant Eagle on S Hamilton Rd in Groveport, Ohio is rude, arrogant and looks like a bumb with this disgusting looking so called beard, if that’s what you call it. It is very unprofessional looking, the appearance looks like he rides with a BIKER GANG, and NOT a professional pharmacist, whom is supposed to look presentable and have a smile on his face or at least a look that makes customers look like he is not mad all the time. Always, short and to the point and never shows any sympathy or caring attitude with his customers. This guy acts like he is the KING, and he can act in any way and look any pitiful way he wants. This GOAT TEE he has is dirty looking, and is disgusting looking as well. He for sure has the look that goes with his disgraceful attitude. This makes Giant Eagle look bad, like they don’t care about their customers. When he works, I don’t even go in that day, I wait till the nicer pharmacist works. These people are NOT GODS, they are just pharmacists, and I expect decency and respect when I go there and do not want to look at this guy and his very dirty looking appearance. This immediately shows me how he cares for himself and definitely not others. Please do something about this guy’s appearance and the way he treats good and loyal Giant Eagle customers. Thank you.

Desired outcome: Make this particular pharmacist look presentable and treat all people with respect they deserve and to put a look on his face that looks like he is not mad all the time and SMILE once in awhile. This guy is very arrogant.

Giant Eagle Cake from Bakery

Ordered wife's birthday cake online, picked up in Glenshaw store on 11/10/22. The cake had an image I had selected from your website. When we cut into the cake that evening and served several pieces, people where complaining that they where eating a piece of what looked to be paper. We have had many cakes from Giant Eagle and never had a problem like this. We pulled at, what looked to be the image printed on this paper, and it basically took off the top of the cake, icing and all. I took the paper back to Giant Eagle the next day and they told me that it was an edible image on the cake.

I've ordered cakes before with images on top but they where sprayed directly on the cake. If I had of known that it was spayed on a piece of paper (edible or not) I would have NEVER ordered it.

I'm sorry to say I will not order cakes from Giant Eagle again if this is the quality you are putting out. It's sad to see that people will accept eating a piece of edible paper.

Desired outcome: I would like a full refund.Also If your going to advertise this as a edible image on your web site tell people what they are getting, I'll bet most people would not order an image if this is what they get.

Giant Eagle Rude employees

I will NEVER shop at the Giant Eagle in Cranberry Twp, pa store again and I will make sure that I will spread the word.

I've never been treated so poorly by the Mgr. named Heather - very immature for the title that she holds. Wasn't willing to help and nor was her co-worker Sandy. They were VERY rude to say the least, there was no need for it. I gave this store a lot of business - Never Again!

I can't help but to notice a 1 star for most of the reviews.

Desired outcome: I would like an email sent to my email address [protected]@gmail.com so that I can explain further on how rudely I was treated, and I did not appreciate it.

Giant Eagle Pharmacy

Something needs to be done about the unstaffing at the Giant Eagle Pharmacy in the Tarentum Rd Newkensington location . Every time we try calling to get scrips refilled encluding many times in the past as well as yesterday and this morning I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone . I sat yesterday for almost an hour listening to their music and right at this moment I am still on the phone once again listening to music for a half hour and still waiting. Something needs to be done, even when waiting in line at location you hear people complaining about it.

Desired outcome: more staff and a for them to answer the phone promptly, we are only one family going through this can you emagine how many more there are.

Giant Eagle Store wheelchair

Giant Eagle.. Canfield Ohio

I have made 3 complaints to your service department about the condition of your in store wheelchair. Although I very much appreciate a wheelchair that I can put my mother in (the only way she can shop) it has become dangerous. As you can see by the pictures below, when there is weight in it, it does not close, I believe the frame is bent. When empty the cart basket closes. So they keep putting out thinking it's fixed. This did not just happen, it's been over 3 years now.

Desired outcome: I would think one of the best and most expensive grocery stores in eastern Ohio could afford a new wheelchair.

Giant Eagle Pharmacy

The drive thru at Giant Eagle in Washington Pa. 15301 is absolutely in need of rules and regulations. I've waited over an hour in drive thru because people drop off their scripts and sit there and wait, holding up the lines extremely bad. For those that need immediate medicine like insulin or inhalers for lung issues, it's a matter of life or death. Giant Eagle should have signs that tell people that are dropping off scripts, to pull out of drive thru and park until their scripts are ready. This is a very serious issue.

Giant Eagle Tampering with a food item

Hello this email is in regard's to a employee who blatantly dug his fingers into a pack of Nestle pumpkin spice cookies I purchased on 10/01/22. The employees name is Elijah B at store #69 Frankstown road 9001 Pittsburgh PA 15235. I am actually highly disgusted with this kind of customer service and hope this won't continue . Thank you for contact support. I spoke with a lady at the front desk she allowed me to exchange the item for a fresh pack however this is just not pleasing and highly uncomfortable Thank you .

Giant Eagle Limited flu shot hours

UPMC employees were notified that flu shots could be administered by any Giant Eagle Pharmacy on a walk-in basis. How convenient! I completed the online form prior to presenting at the Giant Eagle Pharmacy on Interchange Road in Erie PA, where weekday pharmacy hours are 8a-8p.

Imagine my disappointment when, at 6:40pm, after making a special trip for the flu vaccine, I was informed that vaccines were only available from 10a-6p. Even the store manager was unaware that flu shot hours were limited!

Desired outcome: Please update the website to indicate when a service is not available during regular business hours. For example, pharmacy business hours are 8a-8p. Flu shots are only available from 10a-6p.

Giant Eagle New York Strip Steak

On Monday, September 19, I purchased what was supposed to be a USDA Prime NY Strip steak @~$21/lb. I cooked it on my grill as I usually do, and found it to be tough and certainly not Prime. Not even sure it was USDA Choice. For the price I paid, I am very disappointed in the quality. I have always had excellent quality meats from the Market District at this location (Carmel, IN). Unfortunately, I am no longer in possession of my receipt, so I cannot provide any additional information. I'm not expecting any compensation because I cannot provide the evidence, but I did want you to know about my disappointment. I'll have to find another establishment for my future meat needs. Thank you.

Desired outcome: My desired outcome would be a refund, but since I don't have the receipt, that probably isn't possible. The next best thing would be some sort of response just so I know you are aware of my issue.

Giant Eagle Pharmacy in Fischer Heights

When prescribed an injectable medication it is obvious that needles should accompany the medicine, Right! Not only is it not obvious to this pharmacy but its oblivious to them. If I had a life or death required medication, I would be dead already unless I took additional action and went to a hospital, why you ask, because they don't bother authorizing anything. I have been texted to pick up medication and then told upon arrival it needed authorized and they would contact me when completed. Then why text me in the first place! Additionally, I go to pick it up the second time and when asked where the needles are I am told they now need authorized, why not get the authorization together. No, it is too hard for them to comprehend. So, what does the staff do, they flip you off, argue and even have a pharmacist there that wants to fight because you call them lazy for not doing their job. That's right I said, "wanted to fight" me, a customer for wanting to receive needles when I get my medication.

This has not been a one-time thing, this has been an ongoing issue with me complaining to corporate GE and yet nothing has been done about it. I asked that they contact me and one customer service representative never even filed the complaint. Another rep told me it's a health insurance issue that they can't do anything about. How can you say that dispensing an injectable and needles cannot be completed before the customer arrives. They can't because it's simply laziness.

Desired outcome: You have cost me money and inconvenienced me, look at what it is your dispensing before you end up dispensing a drug that might cause injury or death, take the time to see what's being prescribed. Or does that all fall on computers today?

Giant Eagle I have a problem with Heather at the market district location in waterworks mall

Heather works the front end of the store she is very rude loud screaming at other employees that work there she made one of the older women cashier's cry in front of customers she screams at them right infront of customers one of your employees that worked there for over 45years retired because of her getting in her face pointing her finger and screaming infront of customers something needs to be done with her you don't treat people that way especially your elders and never scream infront of customers thank you for your time

Desired outcome: I would like to see her position taken away from her transferred or fired she is a very snobby rude loud and rude
