Giant Food / Giant of Maryland allowing non-service animals in store

I was at the Leisure World Giant in SIlver Spring, MD. A non service animal was being carried around the store. Occasionally it was put down or passed to another family member. I believe this to be unsanitary, as them the owners would handle food they did not put in their own cart.

I asked store management and they stated Giant policy did not allow them to keep non-service animals out of the store.

Desired outcome: Do not allow non-service animals in the store

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Unethical Behavior ( An Employee Outdoors Pushing Shopping Carts)

On April 19, 2021, time 17:15 PM, I had just parked my car in a parking space, and I had opened my driver's side door to exit my car when this man employed at the Giant came rushing past my car. He was wearing blue jeans and he could have waited instead of bombarding past me when he had seen me trying to exit my car. He did not say excuse me mam or I apologize because he probably wanted an argument. Well, when I had finished doing my shopping, there he was in the parking lot again giving hard looks. I don't know what his problem was, but I hope that he wont try to run senior citizens over just because he is heavy with weight on his body. Has he not learned to respect elderly customers? I am sure that he has a mother or grandparents and showing respect has never hurt anyone.
Thank you.

Desired outcome: Just show respect to customers who shop at that Giant.

There's a new customer service manager by the name of Lakia very very rude. Poor customer service, attitude problem. Treats the employees horrible no respect and confronts them with an issue while dealing with a customer very unprofessional. She Also sits on the job

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Anti white, black food

We have shopped at Giant in Severna park for decades. The last thing I expected to see was the store going anti-white. There is no place in the supermarket for this kind of foolishness. Food is food. I do not care where it comes as you verify and carry food that does not come from exploited people. As long as you continue this campaign, Safeway is just down the road.

Place take the politics out of your food stores!

I called Giant's Customer Service Department February 25, 2021 to ask if they have my new credit card number since they never charged me for my last delivery but first I told the young man it was absurd Giant has us listen to all this garbage before we get to speak with a warm body. The punk responded "nobody else complains " whereupon I responded accordingly and hung up. I've been a loyal fan of Giant's for 40 years, but no longer.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Country of origin of organic frozen broccoli

As a long term Giant customer I was delighted when the Nature's Promise line was offered.

Finding the Country of Origin of the organic frozen broccoli on the package was very difficult. It was in a tiny print and a hard to find location. No wonder: the country of origin for organic frozen broccoli is China. Shocking and unacceptable. How long has this broccoli been in transit? Encased in off-gassing plastic?

It is my understanding that perishable agricultural commodities according to COOL regulations in MD are required to be provided with legible statements in a conspicuous location where they are likely to be read and understood by a customer.

I have alerted my friends and stopped buying Nature's Promise products.

Desired outcome: Provide appropriate labels. Provide nationally sourced organic fruits and vegetables.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Taylor farms

I purchased 2 bags of taylor farms chopped salad kits adding everything to the bowl and eating I bit into something hard and sharp. I still can't imagine what it is, I have emailed taylor farms with all the information and would like to know what I put in my mouth. This could cut and or choke someone. The ground beef at Giant is so processed, bleached, and water-infused, it is tasteless. No matter what percentage of fat you buy. Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Meats

I bought 3 packs of chuck eye steaks at the Clarksville MD store. I trimmed them of fat of which there was more than usual. I then ground them in my meat grinder, as I have done for years without a problem. However, after a few minutes of grinding, the grinder was clogged with sinew from the meat. This has never happened before. I have bought meat for making hamburger at Giant often and this has never happened before.
The meat that went through the grinder was unusable. It was laced with sinew and had a weird consistency unlike any meat I have ground. The cost of the three packages of chuck was $25. However, the cost is not the issue. Giant needs to change its practices and suppliers of chuck meat. This is just unacceptable.

Hello JCM42,

I have reviewed your note about the meats at Giant Food. As I'm sure you understand, steak is made of cow meat and Giant is not able to guarantee that each steak is the exact same. The steaks are provided in clear packaging for the buyer to examine each for quality before making the choice to buy them. Look closely for this sinew next time to avoid this issue!

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Pharmacy - failure to deliver

Rx ordered Tuesday for Pickup Friday (due to not being in stock) was not ordered from distributor until Thursday. Thus was not ready for pickup Friday afternoon. I had to wait for it to be bottled. Clerk said "I have no idea why, I am not the pharmacist." Demanded a manager who was less than apologetic. She said she had no idea why the "OTHER" people let the order sit from Tuesday to Thursday. But it is not her fault.

I have been buying from this Pharmacy since 1974 and have have many examples of this attitude problem and failure to perform. (Store Number 117) Maybe I need to re-examine where I spend my money.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Cleanliness, observance of social distancing by staff at checkout

On 7/3 I was at store #0329 in Traville gateway plaza at 8:45am. No one was wiping down carts prior to people taking a cart, there were no disinfectant wipes inside the store to wipe your own cart. There was significant garbage on the ground outside the store where the carts are including inside the carts (residual flyers, plastic bags etc).

Was checking out and while I was loading my groceries in bags the cashier proceeded to checkout the next customer. No social distancing, no waiting for me to remove my items. This is the middle of a pandemic--all of the above is completely unacceptable. I mentioned the checkout incident to the manager but, feel that some serious re-education needs to occur. If I don't see improvement- My next step is the better business bureau. I am a physician and extremely disappointed at what I experienced--it puts many people at unnecessary risk if it continues!
